[The Source] Virgin Mobile: $40, 10GB, Unlimited Talk+Text, 1000 international minutes, BYOP

Just ported to Virgin Mobile at "The Source" store ( 2 Bloor St , HBC concourse).
$40 BYOP for 10 GB (advertised as 8 GB), unlimited call and text Canada wide, 1000 international minutes to select countries (includes India and China but not USA). $25 waived from $50 activation/connection fee. Price guaranteed for 12 months.
The promo works as $10 off +$5 off the regular $55/mo plan, post paid.

is this plan ongoing or are the credits for 12 months, 24 months, etc.

Nvm fully says 12 months, lost interest.

This deal was stronger a couple of months back. 35 first year, 40 second, 50 thereafter

we should lose interest the moment they pull this stupid 12/24/whatever months deal thing, keep the price permanent, why is it so hard for them do that

For those who seen the previous deal, I find this really really hard to swallow :(

Data caps should increase and/or prices will go down in the next two years, most likely. I mean, the cellphone plans offered in Canada are so bad compared to many other countries (like 100GB for $10 is common elsewhere), that I’m sure new and better plans will be available here.

Is $55 for 25GB a good deal? I don't think it has a time limit, how do I check that this is permanent pricing. Also on virgin.

Is there any data overage fee?

Virgin is supposed to be Koodo's competitor right? Why is their phone selection so anemic? Also very behind, Koodo already offering Pixel6 and they have no Pixel at all.

Yes, after 10GB you are charged $10 per 100MB block.

FYI I went to The Source this Sunday Nov 14 and got the same thing except it was 24 months (instead of 12) + $100 Gift Card + $0 Activation Fee (instead of half off). I signed up after some research. Worth posting?

Virgin mobile is very notorious in raising price. After so called contract they for sure will raise price minimum by 5$. I still prefer Koodo due to that issue. Only price hike Koodo have done in past 3+ year to me is charging 2$ for international calling add on.

I think I might just go try and demand that deal and walk away if there is a no --- there are more deals coming I imagine. I don't imagine in 2 years I will want this plan anyways and find another carrier.
I got toys.

I just went to my local The Source this afternoon asking about the previous deal $40 x 24 months and all the same features shown here but they didnt have anything - only $5 off the $50 x 10 Gb deal.

This much have just come out - I mean minutes after I left the store?

Might just stick with Koodo until something better comes out....
