and don't forget that the DC45 Animal Stick is on sale as well for $299.95: http://www.thebay.com/webapp/wcs/stores ... viewHeader

Great for people in small spaces (ie. condos) and for quick cleans. I actually probably would've purchased this had I not just purchased the Refurbished DC41C model from Ebay on sale yesterday...

I have a DC-37 Animal vacuum and it is amazing. Well worth the expense!

How's the battery in the animal stick? Is it lithium ion?

I'm considering getting my mum one of these for Christmas. Any chance it will go any lower by then? I'm out of touch with vacuum deals.

The stick vacuum is definitely a clearance item (haven't checked on the other) so if this price doesn't clear it out then it might.

Thanks OP! Just ordered a DC42 online. Anyone know if this model is discontinued? can anyone comment on the suction power over the life of this vacuum?

I hope the dyson name lives up to expectations. Had a hard time paying this price for a vacuum but friends have convinced me that it's well worth it. Let's hope this lasts at least 5 years, haha...

I'm interested in the DC42, not the stick. She needs the bigger one to suck up the extra dog that her Golden retriever leaves behind every day lol

What's the difference between DC61 and DC45? Dyson has discontinued DC45. They have DC61 for $299 with $101 free tool.

bought online then called them. Apparently if you have a BB account, you can call and have them adjust the price immediately

To answer my own question (thought I'd share in case others cared). Lighter and more powerful (different engine). Found this info in the comments section of a Youtube video from Dyson from what seemed to be a Dyson rep.

V6 animal stick uses V6 motor. DC45 uses V2 motor. V6 has 100AW, V2 has 65 AW suction power.

FYI
Dyson.ca has V6 for $349 with some free tools. V6 has a better motor than DC45, the same motor head as the DC45, but doesn't come with the mini motorized tool.

Why not use the 8% cashback? It is more than 10% difference if I calculate it right.
