This is a nice deal. I subscribe to Globe mainly just for the Investing and Business section. It's by far the best in Canada. There is a lot of great content behind the paywall.

I paid $99 for the year last December and no regrets. Hoping that deal comes back this year.

For current subscribers: Just cancel the current subscription (you need to call them) and then subscribe for this online. Just make sure you use a different email.

I am a dinosaur - like read newspapers in "print" - hard copy. Could not find information if this offer is limited to globeandmail.com (online) only and if there is an option to get a print version. No way on the website to find a way to subscribe to print version either.
Good deal for those who enjoy online reading - upvoted. However, (at least in Toronto) libraries give free and easy access to online newspapers and magazines (pressreader app).

I had G&M subscription which expired in May.
Also received this offer by email. Was able to subscribe for $6 using my existing account and PayPal.
G&M site now shows: "Your order will automatically renew on January 10, 2022.". Looks like it went through successfully.

When using PayPal it is easy to cancel next full payment: just cancel automatic payments from G&M in PayPal settings.

Just last week I was wondering when they might have another promo.

In previous threads people have said that when they call in to cancel they're offered deals to keep their subscriptions active. Maybe not another 6 months for $6, but hopefully something....

If this is an issue for you (it is for me too), stay away. I did a promo like this last year, and there is no way to cancel other than calling a number and sifting through multiple reps. The number isn't easily found, either, but here it is:

"If you cancel a periodic subscription to a Service that is longer than four weeks (e.g. annual) you may request a cancellation upon no less than 28 days' notice by contacting The Globe and Mail by phone at 1-800-387-5400"

I'm young and like to read newspapers in print too. Always a treat when I go back to my parents and have a copy of the Saturday globe, coffee and a bagel.

Haven't seen any deals on print subscription in a while. I see there's a Perkopolis deal for $6.59+tax/week for the first 24 weeks, but that might be a little too steep.

Can't go wrong with $6 for 6 months, thanks OP!
(and definitely subscribing via Paypal to avoid the song & dance of calling in to 'cancel')

Thanks OP. This goes well with my 12 month $12 NYT online subscription. I much prefer to get my news from reputable sources.

I also support my local newspaper with an online subscription which I pay more per month than what I'm paying for the other 2 papers.

As much as I miss reading a hard copy of the newspaper, I feel better that I'm trying to reduce the amount of paper being used and still be informed.

Don’t forget Rakuten. I got $15 back on this. Just got the confirmation email.

If you go through the Rakuten app the first offer I saw was $1.99 per month, but then I went back to the homepage and got the $0.99 pop up.

Yes you have to phone in, but it's not really an ordeal. I just tell them I am cancelling it due to financial issues and they offer some kind of reduced price deal. Up to you whether to take it or not.

This is not the experience I had last week when I cancelled. From the time I called to when I was cancelled was 3 minutes. Just checked my call log.

Literally called in, the automated machine says “Click X for cancellation”, got put through to an agent immediately, told them my email and phone, they asked why I was cancelling and if I wanted to reconsider, I said no, she said ok I’ve cancelled it.

Eh? It’s 1.99 per week, not month- and how did you get the 99c and was that per week as well?
