Are there any new tire deals in the spring/summer?
In the end of 2020, we made the mistake of riding our new Pirelli Ice Zero FR all-year even in the summer. In the end of 2021, the tires degraded to 3mm tread, on top of one flat tire caused by crashing into a snow curb. so we eventually switched all tires to Michelin X-Ice Snow. It's a 2012 Honda Civic.
Interestingly enough, my mom insisted on the bad habit of riding winter tires in the summer with Hankook Tires before and it caused no severe wear issues back then for a longer time (several years). It made a huge difference in the ride quality going from Hankook to Pirelli, but no wear as severe as running down to 3mm tread in just a year. My mom is so frugal about the $80 for four tire changing fee that she ruined the tires
So this year, we're looking at actually doing a seasonal exchange for all-season tires in the summer. Right now, I only see Costco having a $150 off sale when buying 4 Michelin Tires until April 3, 2022. My dad would rather not let Costco do the tire swapping, as he has heard that it takes a ridiculous amount of time (3 hours?) even with an appointment.
Canadian Tire also has little to no sales or rebates available. Will Kal Tire be the next good option for deal seeking? Or will new tire seasonal sales/rebates come up later in the spring?
Maybe we should also consider buying the tires online from retailers such as Costco or Blackcircles and bringing it to wherever for tire swapping.
