Thermostat keeps turning system to off state

My Honeywell wifi thermostat recently begins to randomly turn off system, set to heat in the morning, evening it shows system is off. How to tell this is problem with the thermostat or the heat system?

Thermostats are fairly simple in the way that they "talk" to your furnace -- they are basically programmable switches that open or close a few circuits based on the time of day and the temperature in your home. The only things it really controls are "fan on / off", "heat on / off", "cool on / off".

You could temporarily install a cheap "dumb" thermostat and see if the behaviour persists.

If you have one that needs a battery, try changing the batteries
