Are they fixing the Hard Drive space?

Case in point:

We have a tiny SanDisk Microsd capable of storing 1Tb of space.

And then we have massive 3.5' Hard Drive storing 4Tb-12Tb of space.

I truly don't believe they find better ways of storing so incrementally: from 1->2->3->4->6->8->10->12tb.

By any chance Google/Microsoft is already using some 3.5' 500Tb hard drive that we don't already know about?

Not quite 3.5" but you can cram an entire petabyte into 1U nowadays.
I'd hate to see what it costs, but you can do it va EDSFF.

A single 500TB hard drive would be ridiculous.
Then again... I said that a 10TB HDD would be ridiculous 10 years ago so who knows what the future will bring.

Hard drives require moving parts so it's a lot tougher to shrink everything down to get more capacity. 500TB SSDs will come before 500TB HDDs.

FWIW, WD is coming out with a 20TB model soon.
