Thoughts on gyms not requiring masks?

I was so looking forward to rejoining my gym (F45), but declined after realizing that masks are not required. A bit hesitant with the variants still around and everyone doing high intensity cardio. Thoughts?

Since they are letting non vaccinated people in as well there will be some Covid cases in the more populated areas like the GTA.

If you are fully vaccinated, why are you concerned?

You might get covid but it's effects are non life-threatening.... That's the point of it.

If a gym doesn't require masks then it lost my business.

People who go to anti vax establishments are more likely to die anyway, so overtime their customer base dies out and they go bankrupt

I'm fully vaccinated and won't be going back to the gym anytime soon, with masks or without.

Let's face it, gyms were already cesspools prior to COVID.

Well they have every right to not have restrictions. But will allowing non masked people be enough to make up for the loss of people who won't go there without mask requirements?

Not to be harsh, but please wear an N95 properly doing intense exercise in a gym and see how many minutes you last before you faint out and call an ambulance.

You either go and take the risk knowing you are somewhat protected with your vaccination even though you may still be asymptomatically spreading the virus inside or you don't go to any indoor exercise at all at the moment until the sky is more clear.

how effective do you think normal cloth face masks are at preventing transmission?

If you are fully vaccinated then not an issue, you are protected and at most will get a very minor symtom. If not for this vaccines would be a waste of time, we take vaccines for protection and to reduce and eliminate severe systems.

Time for everyone to get their shots and go back to normal, for the ones who wish to wear masks for smog or germs go right ahead like they were doing before the pandemic. For the rest of us we are waiting for the day to return to normal.

We can all worry about the zombie apocalypse another day haha.

Because 10 days of quarantine and the associated loss of income, plus having my house hold.testwd , and then having them.quarantine are not worth it for a 45 minute work out.

That does make sense. Everyone's position is different.

I've been watching people work out on the outdoor equipment in the local park. Demographically they have mostly been from groups that have low vax rates and higher infection rates.
Granted they working out outdoors, but they were not social distancing when there was ample room. They just needed to be together and the workout was an excuse.
BTW - never saw anyone wipe down the equipment.

If I went to the gym, I'd be waiting a while to see how it all pans out before I'd consider going. Much the same as I will be doing with restaurants. After 16 months a few more won't hurt and by then there will be data points to base a decision on. Today, ON steps into stage 3 it will take 3 weeks for the data to start coming in to see how the changes have affected the infection rates.

OTOH I did get a haircut the first day I could. Felt that was safer than waiting for the people to have had more exposure to the general population.

Everyone knows what will happen. Our ~150 daily new case count will be easily back to 500 in August.

Case number is no longer matters as much as before, it's all about hospitality rate and death rate.

Even you are vaccinated, you still could get covid

Btw, I remember the place need be closed for a few weeks if there is covid outbreak, is this still required?

Happened in Oakville just two weeks ago. Gym that was exempt from lockdown had positive cases of COVID19 and had to close down.

Went back to the gym (don't require mask during working, mask in common areas), 3 days total so far.

Most people are still wearing mask during workout. I didn't

Most people are still distancing.

Some of you are making a bigger deal than it is.

Take some precautions and live life.

That's irrelevant at this point.

The Canadian government nor any of the province is going back to a full lockdown.

Covid will just be part of life from now on.

Not requiring mask != anti-vax
