Thoughts on NAPA Synthetic Oil?

This is perhaps the cheapest oil I've seen in the market (ATM) in comparison to CT's oil selection.
I'm looking to use this for '05 Corolla (Beige, of course) under 180k, looking to change the oil after 6-8km?

Any thoughts?

Probably more than fine. Stay on top of your changes and enjoy the infinite reliability of your beige Corolla.
Deal with it.

I would treat the legendary beige corolla with something better. If you can keep track of sales that often come on CT, you can get top of the line Mobile 1 or PP for just $10 more.
For a 8000 kms oci, $10 extra is not bad. This car can do million miles easily

The absolute most basic form of maintenance a person can do on a car is change the oil. Do the car a favor and use something a bit better.

Cheap oil is for cars you hate and aren't keeping.

True! I should do better.

Any thoughts on when the best time of the year to stock pile synthetic oil? I have been keeping track of CT's, especially their pennzoil ultra platinum (intriguing to see how my engine will run with it).

The best oil brand, are the ones that goes on sale.
I've used them all except for Royal Purple.

I buy a few jugs of Mobil 1 synthetic, and a few Fram Ultra filters when they go on sale at Canadian Tire. They're both on sale a few times per year. The filters right now, in fact.

This oil is too good for 8k OCI. But I guess we can just throw around dino juice.

Castrol Edge was $27.99 for 5L at CT last week

Mobil 1 synthetic filters were $13.99

Then there is the $10 off $40 coupon floating around, so I got them both for $31.98 + tax.

i got pennsoil 0w-20 ultra platinum when its on sale for around $35 for 5L, sometime they also have rebate of $10 on top of that as well. I used Castrol Edge before but the Pennsoil feels better and slightly better mileage.

The Formula Shell conventional in the front page is also a great oil, but maybe not at that price. My local Walmart cleared those out last year for $8.

It's got the highest moly content of any conventional oil.

If your car doesn't specifically call for synthetic, this wouldn't be a bad choice.

6-8k oil change interval doesn't exactly warrant synthetic oil.
Conventional oil nowadays are very good and some are synthetic blended to comply with rating requirement.
Unless you drive a lot in stop and go traffic. You should just go with conventional oil and use the saved up money for a decent oil filter(OEM) or Fram Ultra(change it every other oil change).

OP, is this your first time using synthetic at 180K?

I would stick with conventional if it is.

Unfortunately, when I bought the car last month (this is a beater car), the dealer used synthetic oil (Castrol Oil).
I was considering of switching and start using Conventional Oil if I was to do OCI under 8-9km- there's no harm in doing that since this is a Corolla engine (as long as I maintain the maintenance interval).
For the oil filters, will certainly be using Wix (basic model).

Even Toyota's own 0w20 oil is about the same price. Why not just use that? For daily drivers, Mobil 1, Amsoil, Castrol, Pennzoil, etc. are really all the same unless you are racing it or have an exotic car.

I used to stockpile Quaker, Mobil, etc and just find it a waste of time. Toyota Synthetic 0W20 works just fine and BITOG has enough info from Oil Analysis that says it is perfectly fine for 8K and 16K Oil change intervals.

Where do you get Toyota oil from? How much? Any deals on oil filters?
