I tried to hear a difference with their previous free trial offer. I don’t think I can, and the whole Tidal ecosystem is just so subpar to Spotify I haven’t bothered to try harder.

As a true RFDer I got the email and have been debating with myself for the last few days whether to spend the 1.99 or not.

It has the email address listed in the email they send so is it a targeted only offer?

Yeah same here, also on 6 month trial. It works well. Selection is a bit lacking compared to Spotify but.. its free for 6 months

Is this one of those deals where you have to cancel after a specified time or else you get charged for the full shot?

Presumably you would need capable headphones and DAC

I noticed a difference vs spotify when playing tidal via my Sonos Play 5 Gen 2 and Sub combo. Probably wouldn't notice the difference if using it on your phone though.

free 6 month trial for regular tidal, or 3 months hifi
Doesn't work, says I'm not eligible when I use credit card, using PayPal just created an account with no free subscription.

Got this too. just in time to bridge my amazon music trial lol.
I agree, after all the trials, I'd only pay for Spotify.

That's why I am inquiring. Just upgraded some speakers and sub in my home theatre and looking to update the receiver. I've read tidal hifi supposed to be best quality for play back on quality sound equipment.

Tidal on iOS is very bad, most songs can’t be downloaded on iPhone, I don’t have any problems on android.

Honestly I can't really tell the difference between hifi and the premium audio unless I crank up the audio on my PC, where I have decent speakers. Using my 1more triple driver iems with my OnePlus 6 (and viper4android) I can barely tell the difference unless, if I again, have the sound turned up. I did however notice a difference between spotify, deezer and tidal, where I did prefer Tidal's sound a bit more.

if you don't have a 2000 bucks dac then probably won't tell the difference. if just using any mobile phone no hifi is good enough.

i got 3 months free a month ago when there was this 6 month non hifi and 3 months hifi free deal.

overall for music recommendations itunes is way better also more complete music selection. tidal is pretty good but the recommendation regularly is not related to what i just listened.

what i just noticed is using this program called Audirvana for PC and hook up your tidal account and music sounded more "energetic". i just got the trial somehow expired after 1 day. probably buy it when it's on sale. kind pricy for a music app. but really sounded better from that than tidal out of box app.
