[Tim Hortons] New Flash Hockey Challenge Offers - Hot! $2 Medium Coffee and Any Classic or Specialty Donut

Something new that I haven’t seen in the app before, hockey challenge offers running for 2 days only. Where else are you getting a coffee and donut for $2 (and McD’s tiny donut doesn’t count)?

You get this offer for 1 correct pick in the Hockey Challenge instead of 5 points. Cold in my opinion.

I create a similar post few months ago, coffe and muffin for 2 dollars (YMMV) on Timmy’s app.
Got 30 downvotes.
Need be careful on RFD posting about Timmy’s

FYI - Feb 20th point conversion coming up soon... I'm trying to redeem all my points before the big devaluation happens.
Currently only 220 points for a sandwich redemption, but after Feb 20, it'll take over 1300+ points to get that same sandwich redemption.
(and they are being extremely vague on the exact point conversion rate...
I don't think it's going to be 1:5 ratio, it could very well be a 1:1 ratio effectively wiping out your rewards)

Once this happens, I think I'll be visiting Tim Horton's a lot less.
The change places this on equal value with McD's point system - which is near worthless.

Current points will be multiplied by 6.2. It is clearly defined in the fine print of the new rewards terms.

You are losing 64 points on each sandwich you redeem for before the new points program launches. Smiling Face With Open Mouth

ah ok, thanks for that - had to search for "6.2" to find it buried in the terms.
why would they not publish that up front is beyond me, but ah well, that's ok.
I still have quite a few hundred of points left on 2 phones.

Offer expires today.

Why would I want a measly 5 points if I can get $1.32 in savings (or a donut at 17 cents assuming the coffee will be bought anyways).

YOUR offer expires today. If you had another guy score last night you would have a new offer (same offer) today. It will happen every day this week, I call it "offer weak".

I just collect points and redeem free coffees when I get the 7 day offers. Usually collect enough 5, 10, 50 points for a free lunch by then.

Future points will be harder to get (devalued)

Current points are actually increased by 6.2 as others mention. Which temporarily gives you slightly more value.

I would say mostly because it's not available to everyone. You have to get 1 correct pick in the NHL challenge.

I hardly ever spent $ on Tim Hortons. Have been getting coffee through the points from Hockey Challenge.

Just started my 7th free week of coffee (while buying literally nothing else at those times as I don't drink coffee lol) so my SO walks over and grabs them every day.

Their new point system is HELLA BAD. I don't even buy anything at Tim's really and wow.

  • Coffee 400 points (min $40)
  • Donut 300 points (min $30)
  • 10 Pack Timbits 800 points (min $80)
  • Breakfast sandwich 1100 points (min $110)
  • Belt/farmer wrap 1300 points (min $130) OVER $130 TO GET A FREE WRAP LOL

Previously you could spend as little as $3.50 to get a free coffee (at 50c per 10 points) but 99% of people get free coffee by BUYING coffee so it was more like (7 x $1.59 = $11.13) now you gotta spend four times as much ($40) to get that same coffee lol. WACK.
