Never mind the special edition. If you look at the specs it's an automatic watch. Automatic watches tend to be a bit more than your average quartz watch. In this case, I think this watch is priced well. It has a made in Japan Miyota movement which is very accurate. I actually like it over the workhorse Swiss ETA movements that are in many automatic watches. The made in china autos are decent as well but quality varies quite a bit. Even if Timex stripped away the Snoopy logo, I'd still pay the $300 they are asking for. Fossil watches uses the Miyota movement as well. I have a Fossil auto and it's great. Has not needed a service yet and keeps great time. Even better than my Hamilton Viewmatic automatic.

Nice find OP. Tempted to grab one but...too many watches.

These are reissues of the original Marlin from way back when. If you look up the original Timex Marlins, you'll see the big dome.

For $300 you can get a better watch like a Seiko Cocktail Time. THat's one heck of a price to pay for having Snoopy on the dial.

Doubt all you want but I literally had it in my hand at the store for $270 but ended up buying a Rado captain cook instead.

Collectors item so lots of people buying this to keep / resell.

I would agree that for the price, the actual watch is pretty meh. Timex is known for bland watches though. Personal preference thing.

I bought this for $87 at Amazon last week and I'm wearing it and loving it now.

Well, if what you say is true then you must have been *extremely* lucky to find it, 8 months after they've been sold out. That would be like saying you found a Seiko Blue Alpinist at The Bay.

He may be from a smaller city or rural area where a watch like this wouldn't attract much interest, especially at this price.

It's not acrylic, it's a mineral crystal.

it says on the spec page that it's acrylic. even if it's "Mineral crystal" which is a fancy term for regular glass, it's still not good enough. Sapphire is the only way to go when it comes to watches over $200 imo or expect it to be scratched up in no time
