yeah, I think so. Cuz SPLASH RESISTANT means it shouldn't go completely submerged underwater.
eBuddy wrote:Good question! I was going to try it while swimming next week, but I like this out-of-stock watch too much to risk not being able to get a replacement. Does water RESISTANT to 10 metres mean that's it's GUARANTEED to have 0% damage?

the product page @ hbc.com says water resistant 100 metres. i assume when you mentioned "10 metres", it's typo. it's 100 metres water resistant, i don't see why you can't take it for a swim.eBuddy wrote:Good question! don't know why people automatically assume it's a bad product becuase it's only $10.00. it's on sale at an incredible price! i guess people rather pay full price to think it's a good product. timex makes good sports watch, not saying it's the top of the line sports watch. but for the price you pay, it's a good product at a good price.
nothing is 100% guarantted to have 0% damage. who knows, that particular watch you got might be a lemon. but it sure comes with a warranty, so if you take it for a swim and water goes in, i'm sure it's covered under warranty.

Good comment, jeanluc. The watch is a good piece and it's 100 m water resistant. The original price of the watch is about $45 and it's worth that much if you're a sporty person. I'm extremely happy with mine.jeanluc wrote:the product page @ hbc.com says water resistant 100 metres. i assume when you mentioned "10 metres", it's typo. it's 100 metres water resistant, i don't see why you can't take it for a swim.

I've had a couple different Timex Triathalons over the years, the first one was when when I was young enough to be convinced by the salesman it was "junior sized" and not the ladies watch.
Anyway, one year I lost my Timex while swimming at camp. Came back the next day with a mask but couldn't find it. Gave up, got a new watch, moved on. A year later, same camp, another kid lost his watch, and the day after a friend was looking for it. He brings up a watch, and says "is this it?"
It wasn't. It was my watch, still working, having spent an entire winter under the ice. A little rust on the back and the time was wrong, but other than that it worked perfectly.
Never had doubts about the quality of Timex since.

As pointed out above, its rated as Water Resistant to 100 metres. But it does have a WARNING not to press any buttons under water. The instructions also state it is not a diving watch and should not be used for diving.eBuddy wrote:Good question! Very few watches are rated as Waterproof (Rolex comes to mind). A rating of 100 metres means it SHOULD be safe for swimming.

this is NOT a $10 watch.. you may pay 10 for it but regular price is $45Bomberman wrote:has anyone tried this in water yet? I'm afraid something that's as cheap as $10, the WR markings might be a joke.

Unlike other el cheapo brands, when Timex claims its watch is water resistant, it really is. You can go swimming with this. Very few water resistant watches support having the buttons being pressed underwater and this is no exception.
Timex still makes good quality watches and as others have said, the regular retail price of this one is over $40, it was only $10 because it's on clearance. It's probably still worth $20 if you need a watch and don't mind the style.
Sure, a few people got lemons but that happens with anything that's been in the warehouse for a while.

I took a bath with it on. It was ok. You never know if a $10 watch is a cheap knock off version. Especially if it is made in the philippines. This guy posted a picture of the watch, but it's different than how mine looks.

cheap knock off version of what? i don't think hbc corp will sell fake stuff.Bomberman wrote:I took a bath with it on. It was ok. You never know if a $10 watch is a cheap knock off version. why do people keep saying it's a $10 watch? it's a $40 watch and it's on sale for $10. i guess maybe you rather pay full price, so you can think it's authentic timex.
it's only a watch, made in the philippines doesn't make any difference. it's not like your buying a rocket car then maybe you don't want it to made in the philippines.

Finally got my watch, guess I was to lazy to pick it up earlier. This watch has to be a ladies or kids watch. The band just fits me, last slot. I had many men's watches and none with a band so short.
Nice watch though, plenty of features. My kid will now enjoys it.
