TMS Koodo LG Q6 0$ small tab $240 get 250k pc pts (200k base + 50k trade-in) + $40 bill credit

Retailer:
TMS
TMS LG Q6 0$ small tab $240 get 250k pc pts (200k base + 50k trade-in) + $40 Koodo bill credit. Self-refer myself for another $100 and stay for 90 days on seasonal hold.

$0 upfront
$240 small tab
$50 seasonal hold for 90 days
$10 SIM card
Total cost = $300 + tax
Less: self-referral $100 = $50 bill credit for the current line + $50 for the new line
Less: 250k pc pts = $250
Less: $40 Koodo bill credit - Note 1
Net profit = $390 - $300 - $15 of $300(AB tax) = $75
Yes, they gave me $75 to take this phone.

Note 1:
1. The $40 bill credit will be deposit to my account within couple of bill cycles. Koodo is using the bill credit to get people stay with Koodo. For me, it is extra bonus for me as I am stay with Koodo for 91 days anyway.

Update Feb 9:
I was at my local TMS store this afternoon. I was told that the $40 bill credit is a new arrangement between TMS and Koodo. They added a new requirement now. The $40 bill credit it only for new activation with a medium or large tab only. Therefore, it will not apply to this deal any more. But ask for it anyway just in case you get a CSR does not know the new rule.

For those people who signed up after me, your $40 bill credit will be safe. If I switch my plan to SH, will I get the $40 credit in 1 or 2 bill cycles. I was busy for the last few days and was planning to call this weekend to switch the new line to SH.

I check my account at home. It is not there yet. I was told that it will be in my account within 2 bill cycles. So, don't cancel right away. According to TMS CSR, the bill credit is new this week.

1. You need to setup your current Koodo account to do referral.
2. Create a new email address which must not be used in Koodo before.
3. From your current Koodo referral account, send a referral to your new email address.
4. Add a new line added to your current Koodo account.

Unless Koodo got more LG G5, TMS ran out of G5 in December. It is no long on Koodo site.

Q6 is 200K points too, the extra 50K is trade-in credit. Is G5 on Tab Small too?

@embguy couple questions...
  1. Is the account credit a promo code inputted by TMS rep?
  2. You sure seasonal hold won't prevent the referral credits from working?

Q1:
I was told by TMS CSR about the $40 bill credit at the end of my activation. But I will take what is coming my way.
He wrote down $40 bill discount credit at the bottom of Koodo contract. It is not written I need to call tomorrow to find out who is giving me the $40 bill discount credit? TMS or Koodo. This $40 credit is not in my account yet.

Q2:
I have been getting referral credit while I was on seasonal hold since 2016 because the seasonal hold is a Koodo active plan. But I don't know the effect of seasonal hold on getting this new $40 bill discount credit. I will find out more tomorrow when I call my TMS CSR.

Please call your TMS CSR related to this new $40 bill discount credit.

Why seasonal hold?
Koodo $50 50GB 5G + Unlimited Long Distance Perk (28 Countries)
Public $117 90GB + Canada Wide (90 Day plan; less rewards = $20 per month)
Freedom $35 North America Wide + 20GB + 1GB Roaming

kav2001c wrote: Why seasonal hold?
Seasonal hold costs $15/m instead of the cheapest $30/m plan. 3x $15/m = $45 for 90 days.
It costs less to stay with Koodo for 90 days on seasonal hold than the cheapest market plan.

You may ask why I am staying with Koodo for 90 days because Koodo contract does not have the 90 days cancellation cause anymore.
1. Stay 90 days to get the $100 self-referral bill credit
2. I am churning Koodo phones. If I cannot repeat the same process again, it is not churning. I stay for 90 days. My TMS CSR get his commission from my purchase. This is win-win. When he has good promo, he calls me. If the number make sense, I get a new phone and activate a new plan staying for 90 days before cancel.

Dont see how this would give referral credit to your current account if you are referring your new email bit opening on the current accoint. Mind providing more details as I am interested?

Thanks for these posts. Keep more coming!

When I self-refer to a new e-mail address, I then go ADD a line to my existing koodo account and not create a separate one right? And how did you get the $28/month koodo plan in your signature?

How do you set up an account to do referrals? I can't seem to find that function anywhere.

You need an active subscriber line with Koodo. Did you sign up again since you churned that Essential phone?
