Toilet flushes not completely

That is to say;

My toilet’s water tank only empties half way.
I have to hold the lever, in order for the tank to completely empty.

The black cylinder thing (circled green) moves down too fast, before the water empties all out.

To get a complete flush, you need to hold the lever down for an extended time.

Is it possible to adjust?

I’m out of my depth.

Thanks for your precious advice.

It’s a Mansfield toilet. Like many other original “water saving” toilets, They aren’t designed to release the entire tank of water.

I assume that it flushed fine before so it's most likely that the flapper is worn out. I just had to replace one that wouldn't stay up long enough to let all of the water from the tank out. I've never seen one like yours before so I hope that the part is available. It's old with the ball and lever float.

would be easier to change the whole system, not too expensive and easy to do
I was there at the 32$ price error at dell.ca day AND at the 150$ off price error at fs.ca

thank you very much pootza,
I looked into it, as much as I can tell.

Seems like I need to match the valve with the correct tank as well? (see https://www.plumbingsupply.com/mansfiel ... lapperless there are many models!)

These seem hard to find in Canada. I'm in Laval, Quebec. Any idea where to get these?

Another possibility I looked into is a Fluidmaster replacement kit, but I can't find it in Canada!

You don't change the fill valve you change the flush valve.
