They will be less excited when in the movie the space station blows up...

I bet he's hoping to figure out if he can actually free fall to earth from the ISS in order to one-up himself in the stunt department.

"Get with it. Millions of galaxies of hundreds of millions of stars, in a speck on one in a blink. That's us, lost in space." - Collateral

Out of context from the source, but it work again without being changed.

Let me guess: In this movie Tom Cruise is an astronaut, and a pretty good one. Then he has a crisis of confidence and isn't so good anymore. Then he meets a female astronaut who helps him work through his inner demons and he becomes a good astronaut again. Billiard player, fighter pilot, bartender, no matter what movie Tom Cruise is in, it's always the same trope.

Liman involved should make studios more comfortable spending the $100 million+ on this. Insurance premiums for cast/crew will be at record levels ..

Correct if I'm wrong but the underpinnings of that religion are quite science fiction-y

I can't imagine launching Tom Cruise & movie crew up into space via one of Elon Musk's SpaceX shuttles, then shooting a movie on NASA's International Space Station is going to be cost efficient. They can surely create a better and more cost effective movie in a studio...but I guess this is all part of the marketing, right?

They can just repurpose Stanley's set.

This is nothing but a vehicle for Cruise's ego. The CG is so good these days, it's totally no point to do this.
