2 Year VPN 50% off with FREE Amazon Firestick + Mini VPN Router - $49.99 USD + $10 USD SH

Deal Link:
Price:
49.99
Savings:
50%
Retailer:
TorGuard
I have posted another thread a while ago regarding the VPN being 50% off and with a free mini router but it looks like now TorGuard is offering a Amazon Firestick for free including a mini VPN router. A 2 year subscription will need to be activated or renewed then contact support to process the mini router and Amazon Firestick. A $10 USD S/H fee is applied for anyone outside of the USA unfortunately but still a very good deal. I had renewed my subscription during black Friday but needed to purchase another 2 years for this promo. They just added another 2 years to the service. I used 50PercentOffLife for the 50% off the service.

https://torguard.net/holiday-offer-50PercentOffLife.php
Promo Code: 50PercentOffLife

How to get the Amazon Firestick & VPN mini router
1.) Purchase 2 years of TorGuard by clicking the Get TorGuard Now
2.) Use Promo Code to get 2 years for $49.99 USD
3.) Open a support ticket letting them know that you would like the Amazon Firestick and VPN mini router
4.) A $10 USD shipping fee invoice will be created.
5.) After a few days you will receive a email that the item as been shipped.

It seems that they are backlogged as it took some time to ship the Firestick (received my VPN router during blackfriday)

Choose the biannual in the link provided. It should be $99.99 USD then with the 50% it will go to 49.99

One thing to keep in mind with VPN's loaded on routers... substantially slower VPN service than if you would get using client software loaded on your computer.

Do I understand this correctly: the basic version will not work at all with Netflix, and an IP add-on is required?

Yes that is correct. there may be one or two servers in the states that may work but in general they are usually blocked by Netflix.

Sign up then send a support ticket telling them you want the stuff. I got that from somewhere in this thread I didn't figure it out.

I did so, and paid the $10 USD, but I haven't received a tracking number yet. Note that it does say somewhere something like while quantities last, I'm assuming since they took $10 from me I am getting it :), but who knows.

Wouldn’t this depend on the router? If you have a router with a fast CPU running say DD-WRT, wouldn’t transfer speeds be similar?

Definitely. Judging from the pictures, they seem to be offering a "low-end" GL-inet router which has a 580Mhz CPU:

https://www.gl-inet.com/products/gl-mt300n-v2/

This device seems to be quite popular with enthusiasts because it comes with OpenWRT and openvpn pre-bundled.

Some benchmarks here:

Its true its processor dependent so I can't confirm on every router I have tried dd-wrt on a decent 1.2 GHz (CPU) router which is substantially better than the mini-router provided in this ad using two different VPNS and they both topped out around 40Mb/s (which would seem to indicate router processor limitation rather than VPN throttling). The client software by comparison on a good day were running at over 200Mb/s This is inline with my experiences with other lessor routers which were even slower. New top of the line high end routers will do better but still might not reach max speed and are pretty expensive. (might void warranty installing DD-WRT assuming it supports it).
