"A massive bike sale will be held to offload the Toronto Island Bicycle Rental's stock starting Easter weekend.

If you're in the market for a cruiser or tandem bike, there are some deals to be had. Prices start at $75 for single bikes, $100 for tandems and if you want something for the whole family, quadricycles or "Flinstone cars" will start at $500."

Can you explain why it was terrible?

It was very difficult to get going and required a lot of effort to keep moving. We just wanted to leisurely ride around the island but it turned into quite the workout. At the time I thought maybe that's just how they're supposed to be but since then I've rented them elsewhere and they were so much better.

From what I remember these things were always in pretty poor shape?

Not sure if that has changed in recent years but unless you want the nostalgia or novelty then this is likely to be more of a headache than anything

Even the new owner doesn't want them.

If you do love biking, live in Toronto area, and want to tandem ride too why not volunteer with the Toronto Trailblazers? I've been with them over 10 years. We bike blind/visually impaired riders. PM me if interested in learning more.

Have to agree on the Tandems, did it once and regretted it, was old, uncomfortable and a huge pain to get moving. Not surprised they're trying to sell them.
