Plane.

It's insanely too far to drive on a regular basis.

Some job opportunities may cover cost or at least subsidize it.

Were you thinking of a daily commute there? Lol it’s 1,400km from Toronto. 14 hour car ride which would probably translate to 15-16 hours on a bus.

How often are you planning to coming home? It's 1,400 km one way. Your best bet is to fly home once every two weeks or so if your family absolutely cannot move.

Ask for a FIFO opportunity. We do that all the time all over up north

Plane. My kid goes to school there and flies back and forth. No other options. It is not a cheap flight.

VIA hasn't served Port Arthur since 1991.

Look for something closer if you can, Sudbury/North Bay/Timmins/Sault Ste Marie are within 5 hour drives from Toronto and should have anything you need to go to Thunder Bay to get.

Depends if he has a 7/7 shift. Could be 14/7, 14/14, 21/7..... Who knows. Post is very vague

Hi it would be 12 hr 4 on 5 off

I know driving for 5 off won’t be worth it and is not logical but too bad there is no train or bus

4 on 5 off? i thought nothing could be more crazy than when my wife did 8/6 in Wawa.

You are living in Tbay or the surrounding area my guy lol. Taking the bus with that rotation sounds insane. Would not even attempt.
Flying is your only option with that rotation... TBH i would try to get something longer. My wife currently is doing 15/13 and it works pretty well. At least with the longer rotation taking the bus makes more sense. As other said, check what the company offers in terms of compensation for travel.

Will you work for 4 days straight, and on your last day leave for toronto after your shift or sleep then travel in the morning? That cuts heavily into your "off" time especially if you are considering bus.

I think by bus you need to go from Toronto to Sudbury then take another bus from there to Tbay.

That would have to be one hell of a good paying job for me to even consider that.

Any sort of trade, mining, telecommunications, etc. OP I think it's pretty crazy to even attempt taking the bus from Thunder Bay to Toronto. Your best bet is to rent out a room there and stay for the duration of your term and maybe fly back once every month, maybe you can even ask them to have more work days instead of 5 straight days off so you don't get bored staying by yourself.

What weird schedule? The only weird schedule I find is the Monday to Friday where you only get 2 days off a year (approx 104 days off per year).
Who signs up for this crappy schedule. I like my 200+ days off per year
