[Amazon.ca] TP-LINK Metal Switches starting from $18.99

Amazon's Deal of the Day includes several TP-Link metal switches. The 5-port and 8-port unmanaged Gigabit and 5-port POE Gigabit all look to be at all time-lows (by $1-$2).

16 port is also on sale.

5 port PoE is decently priced.

Any thoughts on plastic vs. metal, and these vs. the Netgear options that were on sale last week?

Looking at getting the SG108 metal case for $24.

I don’t think I’ll need 16. Not sure metal vs plastic.
Basic gaming and streaming. No heavy duty items like file sharing or plex.... at least at this point.

Not sure why these don't have the power input on the same side as the ethernet ports...

I guess it's only a $1, but literally just bought it from Amazon two days ago. Oh well, replaced a d-link switch that just decided to stop working.

The TP-Link steel switches have a 5-year warranty, and the 5-port PoE steel switch has a lifetime warranty. The NetGear 5-port steel switch from last week has a 3-year limited warranty.

How do these TP-LINK compare to Netgear? I've been using a 5-port metal Netgear switch for the past 6 years and it's been solid.

Need another switch for my TV console, so just considering whether to go Netgear or TP-Link.

I've got about 6 unmanaged switches in my house from an assortment of brands, including netgear and TP link.
Most are turning 10 years old or more. There isn't much that goes wrong with these things honestly, buy on price IMHO.

I have many of NetGear and TPLink 5 port, all metal case, they all run fine. Just get whatever on sale.

I also agree not understand why they don't put power and network port on the same side, just like their plastic version

Bright side of RFD: Often find good deal
Dark side of RFD: Tons of stuff that I don't need but still got them because of RFD

This is pretty much why I still get the plastic switches, which have power and network connections on the back.

For historical purposes, I bought the Netgear 8 port for $21.99 on Prime Day last year.

So since I'm not in a rush to get another right now, I'll hold off for now.
Agreed, been using the TP link 8 port for about a month now, pretty simple, good build, no issues.
if you don't ask, the answer is always NO!

Good quality unmanaged switches. I have a sg108 that has been rock solid for a few years now. I wish there were managed ones on sale.

Thanks,
Cal.
