Trade in a select PS4 console towards a PS5 bundle (presell) and become next in line to get your PS5

I don't think they're bumping trade values up this time (seemingly at all) so really the only "deal" here is being guaranteed a PS5 in a short period of time.

I traded my ps4 500gb in the December deal for $300 trade credit so this is cold unless you don’t use your current PlayStation any longer.

Also I’m still waiting on stock of PS5 so have been paying PS plus for months and no console.

You get the sales tax on the trade in. In Ontario, you would get about $200 for your PS4 slim. This is pretty close to what you might get on Kijiji, and if you still use your PS4 it is a sunk cost because the PS5 is backwards compatible.

The hottest part of the deal is being guaranteed a waitlist spot for a PS5. If you have been unsuccessfully hunting for a PS5, it might be worth it to grab a PS4 slim off of Kijiji or Facebook marketplace, just to get the waitlist spot. With that said, last time around, Gamestop ended the deal early. If you choose to go that route, I'd do the trade in ASAP.

This is way colder than their last version of this deal. Last time around, you received $450+ tax for a Pro, or $330-$350+ tax for a slim. With a sports game, and an extra controller, I received well over $400 off the PS5 bundle. With that said, I would suspect they won't do that deal again since they got so many PS4's that they had to end the deal after a single day.

While this deal sucks in comparison, the only hotter way to get a PS5 would be to sell your PS4 on Kijiji/Facebook marketplace, and then spend countless hours trying to hunt down a PS5 at Shoppers on a 20x the points and/or bonus redemption day. That would be nearly impossible though.

so no stores have stock of ps5 still? this is 1.5 years now since..i rmember that first day i tried to get it on Toysrus! that was in 2020 i think lol

That is crazy that you are still waiting for stock.

Based on the experience of a lot of people in the thread, a lot of them got their PS5's very quickly. Maybe contact the store you did the trade in at, and see what's up?

Something to consider for anybody who does this trade in, don't do it at the most popular EB Games in your city. As in, for Ottawa, I wouldn't go to one of the locations in a major mall. I'd go somewhere like Merivale, Orleans, etc. Waitlists are apparently store specific, and more people will go to somewhere like Rideau.

EB Games apparently get PS5's weekly, but they don't get very many relative to the demand. Without the waitlist, you basically have to find out when your local store gets the deliveries, and then show up. Depending on how easy going some stores are, they might tell you what time their Purolator truck roughly usually comes.

Which location is this? Are you sure they haven't somehow forgot about you being on the list? Maybe call to follow up with them.

When I did the trade, I got the PS5 roughly a month after.

I am so happy I traded my PS4 back in December, I got 350$ for the 1TB version.

It would only be a solid deal if the stores got in shipments of ps5s and put them aside for this promo specifically. Meaning, if i couod walk in today and trade my ps4 and walk out with a ps5. I am sure this one day could happen maybe 2023 when more consoles are made. But im not going to rid of my console and wait weeks/months

But that would make sense. You're talking about a company that has at times forced people into buying a physical game to bundle with their PS5 Digital.

I too did this deal (got $350 for a 1TB PS4), and had my ps5 in hand 3 days later.

Not much of a deal if there's no TIV bump and/or guaranteed pick up

That is exactly what the promo is supposed to be. The only YMMV is how many people per store are on the wait list. If you read the prior thread, most people got their PS5's relatively quickly. The people who didn't I assume traded in at popular/busy locations that are going to have longer wait lists.

traded in my ps4 pro back in december, moving to AB. hopefully there is horizon forbidden west bundle this holiday season (i'm in no rush)

How much does a PS4 Slim 1TB sell nowadays on FB marketplace/kijiji etc.

I got the 1 TB PS4 Slim Spiderman bundle for $260 back in late 2018 and I've only played the Spider-Man game on it so far.
I'm not using it at all but I would definitely love to have the PS5 for the Miles Morales game and new Spider-Man 2 game coming out in the future

Do I go with this trade in value or wah?

This would be hot if it was like the previous deal where they bumped up the trade value or if they let you preorder a PS5 by itself.

GPUs are finally becoming available and I've personally seen a Series X on a Walmart shelf last week, so hopefully the day is coming where you'll be able to just go to a store and buy a PS5.
