Traffic ticket advice in Quebec

Noble RFDers,

I am hoping to get your advice. I am a Toronto resident and, unfortunately, got my FIRST speeding ticket in Quebec city. I had just got off the highway and was on 67 in a 50 zone. When I crossed the street light, the traffic camera took a picture of my license plate. Three week later, now, I have received my speeding ticket for $79. I don't want to go through any hassle so I have already paid off the amount. My question is:

1) Do I still have to plead guilty? Or is paying the fine enough?

2) Can I still get demerit points? Is it possible that once I plead guilty, I'll get a mail stating these are the demerit points on my license plate?

3) Would this ticket impact my insurance premiums?

Thanks!

Speed cameras are cash grabs.
No records, no demerit points.

Just pay the ticket, speeding camera have no impact on your insurance or driving record as they cannot determine who was driving it (been mentioned many times by the way)

It is a small ticket of $79, just plea guilty, pay it and get over with. The only impact from this is you are $79 short.

Thank you for the reply! I agree they are definitely cash grabs - this one was the first street light off the highway and the speed limit went down from 100 to 50, with speed camera installed. Having said that, missing the sign is still on me!

Do I really have to plead guilty though? I believe paying fine is considered guilty plea OR should I specifically send an email?

Thanks !

Paying fine = automatic guilty plea, no more action required on your end
