Only found out about this deal today, missed by a few days.

Transferred 240k today, and will continue for the next 3 days for a total of 960k, which will net me 540k miles. Almost enough for 4 tickets to the summer Olympics next year.

Is it worth it for me to transfer my 68k marriot points to aeroplan to take advantage of this promo?

I know it varies for everyone but some advice would be appreciated!
I would hesitate to transfer if you're not planning on using them in the next year.

Air Canada takes over Aeroplan next June, and no one knows what sort of changes they're going to make to the program, or to the value of each point.

No guarantees that Marriott won't make changes as well, of course, but I'd be betting they're less apt to do so given the recent merger.

That's my take, anyway.

Is there any reason to wait for next day to convert? also you can also do 120k transfer, isn't it?

Yes, you are you right. I didnt notice that the bonus miles doubles from 5K to 10K when you transfer 120K

How much would 4 tix to japan cost? Wouldn't 10 nights in a cat 7-8 property be worth more?

Amazing! wish I had that many points
Category 7 is 60Kpts, 960K is 16nights, assume 1night = $300, Hotel worth is $4800
Japan Business class is 150Keach, 540K is 3.6tix, assume 1ticket = $4000, Tix worth is $14400

Aeroplan>Marriott
Caveat: Aeroplan $14400 of enjoyment in 10-15hrs, Marriott $4800 of enjoyment in 16nights
Or you could fly roundtrip economy to Japan 7.2times

Take into account airline taxes as well, -$300 per ticket flying Air Canada or -$100 to $200 flying other airlines

It's usually 150k miles in J. Tickets can range from (sales to average) from 3k-7k, and I expect it to be on the higher end during the Olympics. So 20-25k in tickets. Hotel value (which will also be expensive during that time) will need to be at least $2k/night.

Hello,

I have 51k in marriott points so missing 9k to get the 5k bonus in aeroplan. Is it worth it to buy the extra marriott points for 112.50USD for 9000 Points?

Or just give up the 5k bonus and transfer it, as I don't stay at marriott usually. Just got the points through credit cards.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You can't really get 960K in 7 months on personal travel, must be through booking conferences.
If it was personal travel, then I would say he has serious problems.

This deal is good for some bad for others , completely depends on how you plan to travel

Is it ever a good idea to transfer MR direct to Aeroplan?
