Transfer Whatsapp from Android to iOS

My google search came up with the following page:

It covers the paying software, however if you scroll down to the using email section, it states:

WhatsApp provides you with another option – Email to transfer WhatsApp chats from Android to iPhone without PC. In this method, it sends your entire chat history to your iPhone, but it won’t directly move the WhatsApp chats to your iPhone’s WhatsApp.

Here’s how to transfer WhatsApp from Android to iPhone using Email:

1. Launch the WhatsApp app on your Android device.
2. Go to “Settings” and choose “Chats” settings.
3. Tap on the “Chat History” option to get to the chat history screen.
4. Tap on “Export chat” to export WhatsApp chats.
5. On the following screen, you will be asked to choose a contact whose chat history you want to export.
6. Select a contact and then choose Email (or Gmail, if you use it) to transfer the entire chat history to an email address.
7. Open the inbox of the email account you sent your chat history to your iPhone.
8. You will be able to view your WhatsApp data on your iPhone.

not sure what the problem is? WhatsApp is tied to your phone number, does not matter what phone or device or operating system you have, your friends will be able to chat with you no matter what device you use. you can install it on any device, if you go from android to iPhone, you will deactivate it on the android once its installed on the iPhone., once its installed on the iPhone, you can verify your number and start chatting, ive done this many times and its worked 100% of the time, what issues are you having?

you can't restore whatsapp from android platform to iOs platform....the default restore method doesn't work.

I think few people here have mentioned purchasing that software to assist with transfering chats from Android to iOS, and it works.

why do u want to transfer chats? just delete them they take up memory?

There's a lot of history in chats that people don't just want to get rid of.

I'm sorry did you invent instant message chatting?

How are you going to tell someone what chatting was and wasn't "designed" for.

Having lots of chats in WhatsApp does not slow down majority of phones, TXT doesn't use a lot of storage space, the media in chats do but that's not what most people have backed up.



I've seen many instances of people wanting to save messages from loved ones that have passed away and the only true way is direct WhatsApp chat backups.


I for one have lots of information saved in various chats from over the many years I've been using WhatsApp and it's very useful when trying to find information or details about something by just quickly searching in WhatsApp.

.... Also I find it quite humourous that you've been here since 2015 and can't figure out how to quote reply to comments yet you're telling people what they should be using IM apps for.

its the same as a girl who had a voice mail on her cellphone from her brother and her brother past away she wanted to save the voice mail so she kept calling once a week and resaving it. then she lost the message when she changed providers. It would have made more sense for her to play it on speaker phone and record it on a tape recorder and keep it for ever. just take a sceen shot of important chat messages and delete the messages, they actually eventually get corrupted or some will self delete after certain time

I just read that WhatsApp has announced chat transfer history between android and iOS.

It was announced a few days ago at the Samsung phone introduction.

To start with it will only be from iOS to Android. Android to iOS will come out a bit later.

The ability to transfer WhatsApp chat history from Android to iPhone is now officially out of beta.

Unfortunately they didn't make it simple, can only be to a fresh iOS device using the Move to iOS app but it's nice it's finally here.

can use a spare iphone, go through icloud and uninstall / install on your existing iphone

Did anyone try this yet? Is it possible to use this to consolidate WhatsApp conversations spread over two phones?

I honestly wont bother trying to transfer my whatsapp history. the more you try to do these things the more you lose innovation on real features that matter
