Trick to bypass/reset lower toner message - Brother TN-660 New Compatible Black Toner

My printer is Brother HL-L2320D series.
I use the compatible toner "Brother TN-660 New Compatible Black Toner Cartridge (High Yield) - Moustache".
I wonder if anyone here has successfully done the trick to bypass the "low toner" error of that cartridge?
I googled, found 2 tricks and tried both but neither worked, i.e. I had to put the new one in. The tricks are: 1) put a dark tape to cover the laser eye, and 2) press different buttons to reset the message (sorry, I tried yesterday and now forgot the URL and too lazy to search again).
It is ok if that is the end of the cartridge. Just wondering...

Thanks.

I used the shake toner cartridge and then the button reset combo.
-leave front cover open (during most of the following steps)
-turn off (button at back)
-hold start button when turning on (all lights should go on)
-release button
-press start button twice
-all lights should go on
-press start button five times
-toner light should be off (tho error light may be flashing)
-paper light should be on or flashing
-close cover
-only ready light should remain

Thanks. I tried that yesterday (looking at a web page), #2, and it didn't work.
I will try again today using your post's steps.

On some brother printers you can turn off the out of toner warning via the admin web interface, have a look at the manual for you printer.
