If you're an iOS user, the new plus model will be HomeKit compatible. I'd wait for that model in Q4.

I have been using the Piper security camera for about a year. Like the iftt compatibility.

For those who have this unit, am I right in thinking that this cannot be set up without the unit connecting to the Internet and to the manufacture's server?

I've been using mine since the Indiegogo offering... I've also won a Piper NV and 2 zwave device kit from their Facebook promo a couple of months ago... much better than the Canary as it is integrated with my door sensor and IFTTT...

I bought Piper NV at BB for $269 on sale a few months ago after comparing with Canary. Has been working without any issue for 6 months now. Advantage over Canary was the cloud access and IFITTT. iControl phone support is also pretty fast (no wait).

+1 for the Piper. It's an awesome device and no monthly fee!
