I have the D43f-E1. I find its a really good TV for the price and you can't really go wrong with Costco's 5 year protection.

I found rtings to be a great resource when shopping for TVs (direct link to the 2017 Vizio D series reviews)

I would definitely buy a Vizio again.

Ya I was looking at the 43” Visio but with the $40 discount on the 50”, it’s only $30 to get an extra 7” so I am leaning towards that.

You think the 5 year warranty is worth it?

Definitely. For a TV that is under $500 its only $29.99. The 2 main things that helped me justify that price were the pixel burnout, and the normal wear and tear coverage. Link to plan coverage (Note that the plan kicks in for years 3-5. 1-2 are covered by manufacturer/Costco).

In comparison, BestBuy's protection plan for that Sharp TV is $129.99 for 4 years.

Vizio 50" (D50f-E1) for $478?

It's the Costco warranty. Don't count on the smart part..

Yeah. "Smart" is definately a stretch on budget TVs. It does come with Netflix, Youtube & Crackle. However, if an app stops loading properly you are pretty much forced to reset the TV to factory settings.

Using a separate box for "smart" features is always better than the built in software (espectially on these budget TVs).
