Tv/DVD combo or tv/blu-ray combo (?)

I know this is gonna sound funny to most people and they’re gonna question me why but…. I’m looking for a TV with a built-in Blu-ray player. I know you can find TVs with built-in DVD player combo units, but I’m looking for a TV with a built-in Blu-ray player if possible. I know I know you’re wondering why. I just want one. I would settle for a TV with a built-in DVD player but I’m just not crazy about the RCA brand name and I don’t know what other ones I would buy that are out there like ProScan and Westinghouse are not quite appealing either. I wouldn’t mind a Toshiba LG Panasonic or Sony combo unit but yeah if anybody has any leads on this, please let me know.

Yes, I know, if the DVD player craps out in the TV just becomes a TV and that’s that. I know that going in but I just want one.

Sony made one but it was discontinued over a decade ago. These haven't been popular for a very long time. The low end manufacturers still make some models with DVD because that is mostly what the people that want players still have/use. My local library still gets DVDs and Blu-rays of the new releases. There are twice as may holds on the DVDs versus the Blu rays.

I had the same situation where I have some media that ONLY comes in Blu-Ray (Japanese concerts), so I found a used PS3 for cheap which works very well.

I also think that you shouldn't settle for a TV with a DVD player. You won't be able to play your Blu-rays and DVDs are only 480p. It would be much better to get a separate Blu-ray player so you can use all of your discs and it will upscale the DVDs to produce a better picture than a DVD player.

I don’t own any blu rays. Which blu ray player is good for Upscaling ? Isn’t Panasonic still solid brand ?

I assumed since you were looking for a Blu-ray player that you owned some Blu-ray movies. I never owned a Blu-ray player I always used my PS3 and PS4 which do a good job at upscaling and you can stream Netflix with them. Get one of those two consoles or you'll have to read some review sites (not customer reviews) if you want a standalone player.

Yes it sure is. Can’t seem to find this model in Canada. I can find an rca one but doesn’t have usb slot so I can use a fire stick or Android stick . This Westinghouse one does have usb.

I hope it ships to Canada. Why don't you get separate units? I hate all in one unit; it one craps out, the other parts are useless; the remote control too.

RCA or Westinghouse for the price, they are cheaply made, in China.

When I worked in retail and sold TV's the ones with the DVD players built in had the highest failure rates among all the TV's our stores sold. They just suck, and it didn't matter if it was Toshiba, Sony, Samsung or a no-name brand. My advice get a good tv and a separate player. Or buy the replacement warranty coverage as 9/10 times the dvd portion on these tv's broke within 2 years.

Yeah but I only have dvd not blu ray. Want to play dvds. I find when you have a newer 4K tv the dvds you play on them look weird. Rather have the all in one player so it looks proper.

NO. [email protected] Can’t you see in on a mission for a tv/dvd combo unit. And I’m very stubborn. you can help me find one or get outta my way. The choice is yours.

If you decide to get separate units, you don’t have to get 4K TV, high definition 1080p is more than good, your DVD will play nicely. Good luck.

Duct-tape works wonders at holding things to other things. Otherwise just buy one of the no-name brand tvs and be done. Doesnt matter which brand as they're all made in china, probably at the same factory and they all suck equally.

If you don’t own any blue rays currently, I wouldn’t bother trying to find a combo TV/ player

Buy any 4K TV and use 4k Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc for your content

If you really want to play local materials , share them from your PC and stream them over your network to your 4K TV

For example, load VLC player on an android 4K smart TV and connect to your PC via a SMB share. I have my movies on my pc hardrive to different smart tvs
