Uber Live In Vancouver $5 Off First 3 Rides Works For Existing Account

Savings:
$5 off
Retailer:
uber
Well I never thought I’d see this day. Vancouver Uber is live. Use “WEAREHERE” for $5 off first 3 Vancouver rides. Uber emailed this to me not a personal referral.

I have an Uber account I opened in Toronto years ago and the coupon applied. About a 10 min wait for a ride this morning downtown (didn’t order)

Taxi to airport is $23ish vs the $35 it costs with a standard cab from downtown Van

Woohoo Uber Vancouver

Truly pathetic it has taken this long.
Hope it gives the Vancouver taxi industry a swift kick in the ass

Slightly OT but Uber is working for me, but when I try Lyft it says "Lyft is not available here yet", despite my coworkers being able to use it. Anyone know how to fix it?

A cab from downtown to where I live in PoCo is usually around $47-50. I just checked Uber and it's $29.

Glad Uber is here in Vancouver. Too bad that the stupid mayor of Surrey is delaying the inevitable access to Uber in our city.

It’s prolly an ex-Kater cabbie thinking ”if you can’t beat em....”

I mean technically speaking it's not even live yet.
The first pickup is allowed at 11AM and it's only 10AM here.

Not that I want them to know that, but even if Uber was more expensive than a cab I would 100% take them over a cab any day.
My last cab actually followed me to the door and yelled at me because I had the audacity to not tip after he tried to overcharged me.
He tried squeezing me for like a buck and change and managed to lose $8 in the process.

With Uber, I know exactly how much it'll cost, the route that they're taking, and where the hell they are before they pick me up.

What's even funnier is that Kater didn't even get a license.

You’re naive to not read between the lines my friend.

Of course Kater didn’t get approved. The PTB cited a flawed business model right? Well of course it doesn’t make sense for taxi companies to operate a separate entity as a ride-share service any more. Why would they need to, if cabbies can just join Uber directly now.

Either way, this one guy on the map is going to have one hell of a day, with RFers trying to use their $5 off coupon and all. Face With Stuck-out Tongue And Tightly-closed Eyes

I’ve still got $60 something worth of free rides saved up from when Uber first launched in 2011 in Vancouver and it looks like it’ll be another year before Uber will have enough drivers to stabilize the service here. Can’t believe it took bike-lane city this long to stop brown-nosing the cab companies.

Actually it's added automatically on your credit card as a percentage. If you sign into your account on a computer not your phone, there's a function under menu where you can select the tip percentage. The total amount you see is the price including tip.
There is a new feature that they introduced like a year or two ago that you can do an additional tip at the end of your ride. It appears on your phone screen when your ride has ended and you rate the driver.
