the paper means nothing as experience is king
CCNA by itself can get you into the door as entry level job; but it's the basics for CCNP and up, which with relevant experience will easily get you a 6-figure salary.

CCNA is still a good cert to hold and provides additional insight and knowledge that you might not acquire with experience. I've been in the IT field for a while, and I admit that I would have failed CCNA if I went to write the exam without studying and relying solely on experience. I also go through recertification from time to time, and I see them rolling in more advanced and current topics to the current level. For instance, some CCNP topics made it to the CCNA program. It really dives deep into how stuff really works. That's my view on it anyway.
