P70 = Snapdragon 675?
So flagship killer = no

I don't know what FDD LLC is but the band numbers look good. Can someone chime in on whether it would work with RoBellUs?

Yeah just missing band 29 for Bellus but not too big a deal.

Hmm. That price is tempting. Might even get it and if the cameras are bad it could still be a useful spare phone. I've ignored Umidigi in the past on account of the awful name. Maybe I'll try it out.

Missing Bluetooth 5.0 and aptX HD for me to consider it as a primary device.

Wow, those are pretty important omissions in a day and age of wireless headphones. But perhaps they omitted it because there is a headphone jack.

yaa I didnt see (or perhaps think) of BT5/AptX. so I guess it's NOT quite latest tech. That said, it is literally 1/4 the cost of today's flagships & since we live in the era of short life & throwaway tech, if its not better to get something like this (with very decent specs) every 1.5yrs.

I can even live with no latest android versions so long as there are updates to improve software/bugs which btw Umidigi does. Afterall it seems that no matter what latest cell we get now, its gonna be history in a year.

FWIW I have been rockin my ZTE Axon7 3.2yrs running. This phone does seem like quite the deal for $320 bucks + Umidigi does sell thru amazon which helps to alleviate my anxiety lots.

Umidigi may sell through amazon but that doesn't mean warranty is through amazon after the 30 days. You may be looking at shipping back to China if there is an issue. Doubt they have service centre's in North America, I am glad to be corrected on this if I am wrong, and it would add value if they did.

It is 1/4 the cost of today's flagships, partly because it is does not compare with a flagship, other than in RAM count/internal storage amount/battery. Camera is yet to be determined, a good sensor is one thing but proper software processing and lenses are also important. Aforementioned missing BT 5.0 is also important. Hopefully, they have a good antenna, as the F1 Play had the supported bands for LTE but was not as strong in signal compared to other phones, according to users.

It does have some value, don't get me wrong, but it's not a flagship killer unless you are comparing it with flagships from 2 years ago, or place more value on the things it offers such as the large battery and RAM count. If it was an Android One device (guaranteed updates for at least 2 years), it would be a great buy.

I want to say I'm delighted at having found, what seems like it anyway, a hidden gem but then I don't want to overstate my discovery with UmiDiGi until I've had a chance to use one of their devices for a while.

Wait, what???

This thing has stock Android 10? I find that really hard to believe. Usually the Chinese phones have horribly bloaty skins on top of Android that I just cannot stand.

All 3 of my Umidigis were close enough to stock that I didn't notice.
They're even light on apps too which is nice.

I can't speak specifically about this device, but all of mine (a3pro, a5pro, F1play) were easily unlockable (through the settings menu) unlike some brands *cough* Xiaomi

The thing about this phone is Xiaomi note 8 pro is around the same price... on 11.11

note 8 pro global will be around $253 cad
F2 will be $236 cad
(and for thouse on a budget you could consider power 3 at 200 cad

Yes note 8 pro doesnt have complete baseband support as umidigi does (but close)
and way more bloatware, but certainly faster and newer processor, camera will almost certainly be better do to xiaomi higher budget for firmware.. They will also almost certainly provide updates longer... Android 10 is coming in dec (where as it comes by default with umidigi)
Note 8 pro WILL be getting custom roms, where as the f2 might never get any or update past android 10 (and in a few months they might even not bother with security updates)

Unless im missing something wouldnt note 8 pro be the best option for MOST users.. ?

Anyone thinking of cancelling the preorder and wait for november 11 to reorder at the cheaper price?
I am thinking that UMIDIGI will probably start shipping the phones a couple days earlier to lock in the preorder purchases.
At this point its only an extra week.

Not that it's even in the same league of phones but I just read about the Xiaomi CC9 Pro or the global version of the same phone Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro which has 5 cameras. It'll be interesting to see how that phone reviews. It's one thing for all the specs to be there on paper but reality and integration of those components and specs ultimately determine the user experience.

I'd like to see multiple lenses (telephoto, wide-angle, macro) all integrated into a seamless smartphone camera experience. There are already signs of it this year with the Pixel 4 and the new camera interface as well as the iPhone and how it kind of seamlessly uses - or rather allows you to use - all three cameras from a unified interface.

I strongly believe that by holiday 2020, Chinese phones will be bringing their A game.

Gonna be an interesting year as smartphones - and especially Chinese phones are converging in features and to a greater extend user experience with their American and otherwise designed counterparts.

2020 will be an even tougher year for smartphone manufacturers to pull the numbers in sales and units without competing on user experience.

We've seen the prices on the Chinese phones (except for a few budget-oriented models) slowly creep up as well and this trend will continue in the coming year.

Strap in and enjoy the ride.
