Unable to get free PS5 upgrade for Witcher 3
I've just tried to upgrade my disc version of the base Witcher 3 game on my PS5 and it does not come up as a free upgrade. Anybody else having the same problem or better yet, found a way to fix this?

Yes, I tried that and the base version is still showing up as $32.09 rather than free. Very frustrating.

They'll fix it eventually. There always seems to be hiccups when it comes to PS5 upgrades on the PSN

Downloaded it first thing in the morning and it brings back memories. The 2 expansions were amazing, they could've been full games on their own. Can't wait for the holidays to come so that I can replay this. It's one of the few times I'm glad I bought the digital version.

Very true. Give it a few days and hopefully it will be fixed. Similar things like this have happened with previous games.
Sony's not always the quickest at figuring these problems out before they happen

EDIT: Just tried it myself and it works absolutely fine. Just have to make sure you hit the three dots and change version to the complete edition.

oh weird, I can get the regular version for free, but I can't get the complete version for free. I probably played it earlier on and bought the DLC when it came out, opposed to waiting for a complete bundle. I wonder if I can still access the DLC if I play the regular version for the free upgrade.

I think it is worth it. The visual upgrade is noticeable. Lots of improvements across the board, increased draw distance being a big one. Better textures as well. It looks stunning. I also have a 3070, just like the guy in the article, and I'll be leaving RT off and be happy with an average 90fps. Got it working with the DLC. The PS4 to PS5 upgrade is pretty noticible. Graphics are quite a bit better, and 60gps makes it nice and smooth.
I imagine the console upgrades do more than the PC upgrades. PC games are designed for all sorts of hardware, so they age so much better than console games which are made for 1 (or 2) specific sets of hardware.
The question is going to be, will I actually ever find the time to replace this. I did figure out how to transfer my ps4 save over, so I think that means I could try new game+ if I ever play it again.

So I have the PS5 edition, but I'm not sure if I'm missing out on something. I have The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt PS5 edition I stalled. Am I supposed to be able to get the Complete Edition free? If so it's not offering it free, it wants to charge me.

You can get the free update even through the PS App. Search “Witcher” and find PS4 - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete. If you own the PS4 version, you should be able to select the PS5 - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete version and it should say “Add to Library” as its free.
