unlock telus iPhone 4

I picked up an iPhone 4 locked to telus for free. I have a bell sim card with a shared data plan on it I was looking to put into the phone.

does it really cost $50 to unlock a 7 year old phone that's not worth anything?!?!

anyone have any experience unlocking Telus iPhone's on the cheap? :)

Blame Apple for that one. They run the unlocking servers and it doesn't matter how old the iPhone is.

Wait until Dec 2017 when carriers will stop charging the iphone unlock fee.

In the meantime, pick up a magic sim on fleabay for $15 that will trick the iphone so you can use a different carrier sim in a carrier locked iphone...

This.

And really, don't put too much blame on Apple for having servers that are well maintained and easy to track access on. Blame the carriers because they're the ones that demanded it.

Yep. An iphone 4 and an iphone 7 plus costs the same to unlock. And, if you don't have an account with the locking carrier, Telus, they may not do it. Which means it will probably cost more than 50 going through a third party unlocker. I'd wait.

Check out this thread. I think someone may have mentioned that they had Telus u lock for free as well successfully. Find a friend who is with Telus or Koodo (same network) to assist with calling in to ask for a free unlock.
