UPS lied about Delivery Date

I ordered two watch bands from Apple (both separate packages). When I checked the tracking yesterday at around 6:30 PM it said that both were delivered and “Left at front door” at 5:45 PM. I was home the entire time, and they were certainly not at the front door (I even walked around the block to see if it was delivered to the wrong house).

So I called UPS first and they said I had to call Apple. I called Apple and they were really easy to deal with, they sent out replacements and they will be here in a few days.

Today, the doorbell rings at around 9:00 AM and it is my missing two packages from UPS. So my theory is that it was at the end of their day and in order to meet the deadline they marked it as delivered yesterday and delivered it today. This is really sneaky. So now thanks to UPS I will have to make another call to Apple and get this straightened out.

I have been purchasing stuff online for 15 years, and I have never had this happen before. Anyone heard of this happening, or has it happened to you?

A couple years ago I shipped a package to Ontario via UPS Standard aka ground from Vancouver on a Monday. On Thursday I checked it, and it showed refused by customer in Mississauga. I got it back on the next Monday, complete with all the UPS documentation /labels proving that it was lost in Vancouver, and then rejected by UPS' Air Dangerous Goods inspector at YVR when they tried to Air it to make up for losing it. It was unregulated by ground but required special packaging via air.
Short version : it never left the 604, but had tracking showing it being refused by the customer in Mississauga while it was actually in a bin at YVR. Idiots.

This is not too rare. Probably nothing really to waste your time ruminating about, especially since you got your stuff.
