Not currently no. All non-essential land border travel is currently still prohibited until July 21st (when they will decide if they want to open the land border or extend the closure).

You can return to Canada by land if you're a Canadian citizen/PR yes, but you won't make it into the US side if you don't have an essential reason to go there (ex: if you're a Canadian working in the US, you'd have "essential" reason to cross to either side). Saying you're going to visit the US for leisure purposes will get you denied entry at the land border if you're not a US citizen/PR/have special authorization.

That's why many snowbirds flew down to the US (air border has no such restrictions) and then return by land to Canada.

I really hope the border can be closed indefinitely!

Opening border will get those racial discriminants get empowered by those pro-Trump travelers from United States. A closed boarder is the best measure to fight against discrimination in Canada.

We need a closed-border to fight against American influence!

You realize you're literally doing exactly what you're accusing "the racial discriminants" by painting an entire country with the same brush right?

Lol.... those are the exact type of people that probably wouldn't even travel to Canada in the first place. Many of them haven't even left their own state.

Unfortunately, they do. I have even met people who travels from Alabama to here in 2020 January to spread his support to Donald Trump. He put stickers that support Trump all over his SUV, which makes everyone in the parking lot horrified. He even tried to convince me about his aggressive stance on several controversial issues.
Ironically, I met the guy in Markham, the most culture diverse city in Canada. I politely told him there is no ground for his value in Markham, at least west of Mccowan Road. I am pretty sure he gets a lot of support outside GTA and GVA. I guess he chose Markham as he found in 2019 election, west Markham were the only two electoral districts in GTA that voted for the party that close to his value; but he never knew that party won in Markham is due to 50% residents in this area were permanent residents, they were deprived from voting. He told me that he had even travelled to Australia and Scandinavia before.

I have a feeling that the outbreak of hate crime in 2020, 2021 is largely related to those propaganda brought from the south of the border. Hate crimes has made my life devastating in the past one year.

I really hope borders can be closed to prevent those propaganda to reach our children and next generations. I am not trolling. I just feel unbelievable why the government would not put removing hate crime as their number one concern on any decision like border re-opening.

No.

From US Government:

COVID-19 Related Travel Restrictions across the U.S. Borders with Canada
Borders with Canada

The United States and Canada have limited non-essential travel at our shared land ports of entry.

-- “Non-essential” travel includes travel that is considered tourism or recreational in nature. “Essential travel” still permitted includes: work and study, critical infrastructure support, economic services and supply chains, health, immediate medical care, and safety and security.
-- Trade and business travel will continue to operate across our borders, ensuring workers and goods are not impeded.
-- U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and individuals with valid travel documents will be exempted.
-- Land borders are operating at reduced capacity and with limited hours. Visit CBP and CBSA for details on land border crossings.
-- In addition to restrictions on non-essential travel between the United States and Canada, a number of provinces and territories have put in place specific restrictions for travel across their borders, including for domestic travelers. Please see our COVID-19 Information Page for more details.

The following categories do not fall within the definition of “essential travel:”
Individuals traveling for tourism purposes, such as sightseeing, recreation, gambling, or attending cultural events in the United States.

No news yet for border openings. Its really July 22nd and not july 21st as the restriction is lifted, if at all, at 11:59pm for July 21st.
Vacation going pretty smooth in GTA. Have we reached the targets that will make Trudeau happy? He said 80% vaccine rate overall I think when the last closure was extended and that has been achieved?

Poster is probably mistaking the Canadian border being opened up the Vaccinated Canadians to cross into Canada across the land border without the requirement of a 2 week quarantine, for the American land border still closed to non-American citizens and essential crossing

Heck am probably the one mistaken. I thought it was confirmed during the PM's presser yesterday that non-essential land crossings wouldnt reopen on the 21st.

I did find it curious the French President got involved by touting it might damage Canada-France relations by keeping the border closed to French citizens.
As if the dude doesnt have enough problems in his own country right now yet goes own to essentially threaten an close ally.
