Using chromebook as 2nd monitor

So just trying to figure out the best way to use the Chromebook as a 2nd monitor. If I connect a USB-C to HDMI to my laptop would that work? I know you can connect to a monitor but I want to connect to my laptop. Thanks.

No, USB-C port outputs display signal

You want need an input port to use as a monitor

An example, the Yoga Tab 13 tablet has a Micro HDMI input port to use as 2nd display
