Vacccine: When did you book[# of days in advance] Where did you go what did you get and did you get what you want

Ppl are wondering where to go and what are they offering so I created a master thread. Post experiences here to share.

I'll start

Booked Scarborough Town Centre July 1st for July 6 [5 days in advance]
2nd dose, wanted Pfizer, only offered Moderna [they had Pfizer for <18 only] => I left.
FYI I had a friend who went to STC two days earlier and got Pfizer...so things are moving/changing constantly.

re booked July 7th, 1 day in advance for July 8
Ray Twinney Rec centre
2nd dose, wanted Pfizer, got Pfizer

Be aware that things can change from day to day.
So unless the information is from the same day, it may not apply to you.

For example, things have already changed for Ray Twinney, they are now giving Moderna to adults and Pfizer to 12-17 as of today.

This

The Feds & Provinces are using a JUST IN TIME Distribution System for vaccine delivery
Reason being …

This is an Emergency Measures situation
And vaccines have an expiry date
So combined it’s a case of get the vaccines where they are needed most
And into as many arms as possible quickly

And it’s clear they care less about which one
Vs which ones are most compatible with who needs what

They are standing behind their mix & match theory
And so far … it’s proved very successful
(Even heard it talked about on CNN last night … the success of Canada’s distribution of vaccine )

With the higher pop in the GTA things might be slightly different from the rest of Ontario

But from what I have seen in person
On the news
And from talking to friends & family across Eastern Ontario
Including … small towns & bigger cities (Ottawa, Kingston etc )

It’s whatever is compatible when you book an appointment
(You get date / clinic routed by what you stated was your previous dose )

And you don’t actually know what you’ll get … what they have … until you arrive

And that same clinic could have something different the next day

As well … at some of the larger mass vax locations … they could be running 2 clinics
One doling out one vaccine … and the other something else

In this case … I have heard that SOMETIMES someone slotted for say Moderna for Shot # 2
Asks for Pfizer, and they’ve been walked over to the other clinic to get a Pfizer shot

But that’s rare

Either they have to have a good case for their want of Pfizer
Or an understanding clinic volunteer they talk to

Plus … there has to actually be a second clinic running there that day
As well as a situ where both clinics aren’t stocking the same vaccine
Often that’s not the case … both May very well have Moderna that day

In which case if the person is adamant about Pfizer
They head back to having rebook another appointment and go thru the process again of taking their chances

Getting their 2nd shot … that’s actually Pfizer … who knows when

OR … if they have a truly strong case (like a Cancer Survivor) they are told to contact their GP and the Dr can set them up with a Pfizer appointment c/o a specialized clinic that happens at the hospital

If you want Pfizer you should wait until after July 25. Refer to the deliver forecast. Ontario has only received 348K doses this week and 558K next week. After that they will get 1.2 million and 1.4 million in the following weeks.

If you are in Scarborough/any M1 postal code, you can book online, they tell you which vaccine they are giving
https://www.scarboroughcovidvaccineclinic.ca/

there are also some pop clinics that specify which vaccine they are using.

The supply is always changing, you couldn't get pfizer from STC but I did one week earlier... you just won't know until you are actually there for the appt.

booked on Jun 24, appt for Jun 29. They were offering both pfizer and moderna that day.

I know things are changing daily...but if you have an appt on the same day as other ppl posting, you have some assurance that the vaccine for the day will not change. Ppl are also posting what's going on for subsequent days so that info is relevant.

Are you sure? In another thread it says all york region sites are now moderna. I booked tristan yesterday bc they listed Pfizer only (yesterday on york regions site) and now it says moderna 18+. Someone else confirmed the same today in another RFD thread.
