Which vehicle would you choose?

To keep this fair, I’m not going to disclose the brand or model. A and B are the same make/model.

Vehicle A:

Year: 2011
Mileage: 170,000km
Repairs needed: 1000$ worth (engine + trans solid)
PRICE: 4000.00$

Vehicle B:

Year: 2013
Mileage: 200,000KM
Extra features over vehicle A) Sunroof, back up camera
1000$ repairs needed (engine/trans is solid)
Price: 5000.00$

Edited for more info!

Depend on brand and the model. Investment on Toyota pays off whereas investment on other brands might be questionable depending on the maintenance records.

I didn't downvote....but asking to make a choice or provide an opinion without a good understanding of the options will likely get an poor answer. You might as well toss a coin. I know a lot about cars (check my previous posts on helping others) and want to help but can't because you didn't provide much detail. (you could be talking about a Toyota or Cadellac or BMW and all would have difference responses by your audience) My response was a very educated one but clearly wasn't acceptable for you. Good luck in your search.

Choose the Japanese import. If both are. Buy the 4000 dollar and pay 1000 for repairs.

Guys to keep it unbiased let’s assume it’s whatever brand you find the most reliable. I find that brand tends to sway people’s opinions drastically. Some hate certain brands and other love them. With the limited details provided, which option would you go with?

Are the two options at least the same make and model? Judging by the extra features, they're probably not the same trims.

Did anything change in those 2 model years?

Which is in better condition? Which has been better taken care of over its life?

These are the things I would consider. Not just model year and km's. Those 200k could be smooth highways down to Florida. That 170k could be every day of salted roads and potholes in Toronto.

I'm sure Car B could use $1000 in repairs too if someone looked hard enough.

Go for A.
It has 30K km less than B and the extra features on vehicle B will likely fail or have issues considering the age.

It's straight up dumb to not just list the make and model, literally makes this a bunch of nonsense. There are huge differences in vehicles from that time

Did you really think you weren't going get similar type of responses?

Sorry, but manufacturer, make, model matters....trying to be polite here....

Additionally, the one key thing you've missed here is repair/accident history...what happened to the car before? who repaired it? did it have a salvage title? How could anyone make any decision with out all of these details?

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but no one with any experience with cars or the automotive industry would vote for either option without more information. Saying the engine + trans is solid is not good enough. What makes it worse is by saying "Unknown repairs needed"

Hmmm I'd go with B. It's newer, has better features. Back up camera comes handy quite often. No need to worry about repairs right away. It's got more kms but depending on the condition and brand, you may still get another couple of 100k out of it or more.

Poll should be revised into “How many downvotes can this thread get”

Ridiculous.
