VIA rail having its Canadian Black Friday sale. All fares up to 40% off including sleeper class. I understand that VIA has it’s problems but maybe something for the casual explorer out there who wants to ride the rails. Deals not nearly as good as past years though…and travel needs to happen before the end of March it looks like. Confused Face

Traveled from Quebec City to Ottawa, and then to Montreal and enjoyed it.

Takes longer than flying, but the seats are more comfortable, and, at least on those routes on those days, cheaper.

Downtown to downtown(ish) as well, so more convenient.

I'd definitely do it again if I had the need/opportunity.

Thanks OP.

cheers

Even though the sale was still 'on' yesterday, saw a price yesterday but did not book. Today, booked on the same train but prices were lower by more than $100 each way. Booked today (business class).

Perhaps, but I've never had an airline employee try to steal my phone.

i would want to use this, but not even sure where to travel too.

For some reason no prices show up with I want to check out Winnipeg. I found Winnitoba, but thats at "Sign Post Station" probably with absolutely nothing around.

I wish the Prestige class had some discounts, looks like a great luxurious way to travel but $10K is way too expensive.

I think the author of the video is just scraping everywhere for content to beef up the duration of the video for better monetization.

For example, he whines about having to use a foot stool to get off of the train. I can understand if he is mobility-challenged (eg. using walker or wheelchair). But they wouldn't put wheelchair passengers on trains that require using steps. I wonder if the author did another video on restaurants, he'll complain they use paper napkins instead of cloth? Or stainless steel utensils instead of silverware?

I've been to many places in the world and have rode the train in as many countries as I can, in all the classes from standing tickets where the washroom is just a hole on the floor to luxury sleepers. From 400KM/h levitation trains to 50km/h crawlers. All I can say is, Via isn't that bad. Passengers are treated like human beings in general instead of livestock. Though I've never rode on a train roof, I can say I've experienced it all. If I had a choice between train or airplane (eg. not time limited), I will ride the train as train stations are usually centrally located in big cities and connected to mass transit.
