[Videotron] [QC] Videotron Helix 400 $64 YMMV

Deal Link:
Price:
52
Savings:
30$ off
Retailer:
Videotron
More offers from Videotron
Unlimited Helix Internet 400 Mbps Plan (50 Mbps upload)

Internet only: 52$
With modem-router purchase: 64$

Site says 70$ (including the modem-router purchase) but for many addresses (including mine), price can be as low as 52$. If you don't already own a Helix Fi modem-router, add 12$ monthly (financed purchase, paid over 24 months) for a total of 64$. Good for 24 months, then price increases to 82$.

The address needs to be entered to get the actual price.

For 400 speed, resellers are more expensive and connection quality can't be beat. Best you can get in most areas with no FTTH.

If you're a current Videotron non-Helix client, consider trying for loyalty plan. They offered us $65 for 400mbps. No Helix equipment or equipment cost tacked on.

My area would be $70 + $12 for Helix 400mbps.

When did you get that? I got a 100mbps loyalty plan last year, after discounts I'm at $59.

My buddy just called last week to try and upgrade from 60mbps and they told him that was it pretty much for loyalty plans, for any change he would need to go to helix. And he spoke to retention (apparently).

Would not mind the 400 loyalty plan...

Was mid 2020 I believe, but it's a recurring offer. We call every 2 years since 2016 to switch since they jack up pricing otherwise.

So yeah I might be stuck with my plan unless I want to switch to Helix. I really, really don't want to switch to Helix, considering needing to buy their equipment when I already have an orbi mesh system and own two illico boxes, one 4k PVR one bought outright.

For how long I've loyally supported Videotron, I'm starting to get pissed off.

I can even get FTTH but the only thing I hate more than Videotron is Bell.

Can YOU get the deal for $52?

I can't.

The price in the title is kind of misleading since very few people just happen to already have a Helix Fi modem-router ($12 extra per month).

$64 would be more accurate.

Alright, cool, just let me check if I have a Videotron Helix modem-router laying around my apartment that I have been keeping at the ready for this exact moment...
searching, rummaging, digging, dredging (up), ferreting (out), tracking (down)... nope, no luck.
$64 for me

^ Funny. Face With Tears Of Joy
Exactly what I mean.
Look under your sofa or in your neighbour's recycling bin, you never know; there might be a Helix modem-router and you could get this deal for $52 per month. Face With Tears Of Joy

I don't want to hurt your feelings OP.
Thanks for posting.
I'm not laughing at you and welcome to RFD.

The 52$ price shows up for my address.

I can find Helix hardware for sale on Kijiji from 130$ to 200$. This would keep your monthly cost at 52$, and add from ~5.50 to 8.50$ amortized over 24 months for the hardware.

You are missing the point.
If you have to add $5.50 to $8.50, I guess you can't get the deal for $52 either like the title says, can you?

It's not because the price doesn't show-up at my address that I can't get the deal.
It's because I don't have a Helix modem already and I would have to buy one.

Plus, Videotron now sell the Helix FI 2 gateway; that's the second generation.
What you find on Kijiji is probably the first generation Helix.
Is it still possible to register a new account with a first generation Helix?
Or is the Helix FI 2 mandatory?
Can anyone who has done that post and confirm?

It says: Helix Fi gateway: $12/month
Can I buy the old generation Helix gateway (the black one) on Kijiji and not the Helix Fi (the new gateway) and use it? Would it work with this Helix internet plan? I don't see any Helix Fi ad on kijiji.

Shows up at $58 for my home+ fee I would need to rent or buy helix gateway.

I don’t want to change my two illico 4K DVR, so I will keep their old service which I have 400/50 speed.

What’s the benefit of helix over regular videotron service. Sounds like an expensive upgrade for not much benefit?!
