Hi,

Just to inform everyone with videotron to check their emails. Normally, they just send junk or marketing stuff but this morning I got an email to call them to reclaim a 10$/month rebate on my internet for 12 months. Call them, it was on my account, they just applied it.

I'm now at 49,95$/month for 400Mbps!

It's pretty obvious that it would be a rebate, but it would be good to add "off" or "rebate" in your title.

I didn't get the email but called in. I had loyalty discounts already, and was paying $55 for the 400Mbps. Took 15 mins of putting me on hold to look into it, and they finally applied the $10 off for the next 12 months. Will be $45 now, pretty awesome! Thanks OP!

This is the OP from the Quebec Internet Deals thread. You can get 100/10 for 34.99 from modemoutlet, resold on the videotron network... Includes modem and wifi. But the best deal we found was Carrytel 50/10 for $29.99, no activation fees, and free modem/wifi, great reviews.
Best Deals: Star Alliance Silver without even flying= FREE
Fido CAN/USA Unlimited, CID/VM/SMS 2gb $33/month
3 Logitech X-230 Speakers (150% PM at Staples) = $13 each (I bought 3!)[/B]

What I don't understand is how you guys managed to get the 400/50 with Videotron at 60$/month to begin with...

What did you tell them ?

It was $65/m when they first introduced the 400/50 plan for up to 2 yrs (they had priced it the same as their 120 plan). And in some cases people even had other discounts.
However, they slowly started increasing the price $5 at a time, to the current price.

Ever since they introduced their helix stuff, it is close to impossible to find pricing on their web site for just internet for anything over their 60 plan. I hate the new layout. It is really annoying.

The 100/10 for 34.99 from modemoutlet seems like a super nice price. But I just haven't heard any experience from users who have gone with them. Latency, jitter, restrictions, truly unlimited ? With IPTV, VoIP, and 2 teens at home that love gaming, all of these things make a difference.
Yes, it is videotron reselling, but it is not 100% the same. It is videotron cable network, but the routing and other stuff are handled by the reseller/ISP. Can easily confirm just by running a traceroute (or tracert in winblows), and you will see your packets going through the ISPs network before going out.
So it is videotron infrastructure for backbone from home to ISP equipment, and then it is ISP handling the routing, and/or any traffic shaping, restrictions, and bottlenecks :(

I grew into hating Videotron for having to regularly call and hassle them over cellphone and internet prices to get things down to a somewhat reasonable price, only to have to do it all over again everytime their time limited rebates would expire. They lost me as a cellphone customer when they wouldn't match Virgin's BYOD 60$ 10gb plan, then they lost me when Bell ran fiber through my street and offered unlimited gigabit for 50$. Both time Videotron called a week later, but it was too little too late.

Thanks OP, called in and they added the $10 rebate without issue. Kept my other $9 rebate as well. I'm not paying as low as some of you but I'll gladly take the extra discount!

Well after calling Videotron I got a reduction of 20$ a month for 2 years. Went from 84.95$/month to 64.95$ for 400/50.

Better then nothing.

Thanks OP.
