It's $1/month extra for US use, so not free but might as well be.
So useful to have if you do any travelling to the US. Not having to switch SIMs and going to buy "vacation plans" is great. Worked perfect when I was in the US for a few weeks last year.
Yeah I saw that right after. I'm on the 3/4 year old Canada-Us no Borders unlimited music streaming. So i get 13GB for slightly less. Its nice since i'm in the states often enough, and I'm along the St-Lawrence a few times a month where ATT has better signal than Rogers.
How can an ant carry twenty times its body weight, but root beer floats are still delicious?

Thats just wasting money

1) Buy a cheap plan that will do what you need for your normal day
2) Get a free sim from Raoming Sim
3) Create a fongo account and get a fongo number

When ready to go to the usa

1) Forward your Normal phone to Fongo Number
2) Put your Roaming sim in
3) Enjoy people can still call you at your normal number
For $12 extra a year, I'd rather skip that hassle.

I'm also on the old unlim music streaming plan. I only have 9gb though which is enough for me. Gonna change that to the 7+2GB for $58/m though since I'm currently paying $65/m.

12$ extra a year? Yeah no

Get a 30$ plan insteadof 75 thats 45$ per month the Roaming is 4$ per day so unless you are almost always in the USA you save much more

So yeah they won't add the $1 US option to the 17GB. My wife has 9GB as well, so I'm going to do the same.

You're replying in a thread about a deal for 17gb of data...
Who needs 17gb of data? Heavy data users. And I'm sure those heavy data users will enjoy being able to use their home plan in the USA without having to deal with roaming charges.

Ottawa doesn't have wifi everywhere. Not unless you want to stand outside every coffee shop when you need access. In some of the malls, they have wifi but it's unusable.

Oof, didn't notice that the $1 option is not available for the Premium+ plans. Still though, 8-10gb for $55-$61/m borderless data is nice.

I think people don't put enough emphasis on convenience and quality on this forum. I used fongo for a year, and it really sucked, bad call quality and often calls wouldn't even get through. If "roaming sim" is "roam mobility" it costs $5 a day, so if you go to the US even for 2 days/year, videotron ends up being cheaper ($12/year for US roaming on premium plans). I got this last year, and it's been amazing. I spend at least a few weeks a year there and it's nice to be able to just keep using my phone as is. No changing sims, no poor quality VOIP app, full use of texts and data.

This is a lot of steps to what save no money? One can assume the roaming sim is not free and certainly not cheap for 6-17GB of data. For the $12 a year I will happily pay Videotron.

17GB. I got 750GB/month (corporate plan), technically unlimited if you ask me, and I barely even use 3G.

Aside from constant streaming video/music, I cannot imagine people hitting above the 5GB...

Curious what people do with their data...
I think that data overusage is a mix of the Big 3 constantly pushing more data for the same price, teenagers constantly watching videos and others factors. Once i reached 4-5 gb a month, i realized that i don't wanted more data, i wanted better prices. So i recently move away from Rogers because they don't want customers like me. And i was paying around 100$ for 3 unlimited lines and 10gb of shared data.
