Why not? Please explain. I just hope it has access point mode. That is what I'm doing at home right now. Orange pi r1 plus and deco m4.

Sure, you can always put openwrt on a separate device, you just can't put openwrt on the Vilo routers because they don't use any supported openwrt chipsets (MT76, ath10k, etc.)

Other than that pricing is great.

I don't expect software updates to be great so I always prefer open hardware instead of proprietary. Difficult to repurpose this in the future such as when wifi6e comes out because it won't be compatible with anything else besides its own proprietary mesh.

Most of the routers posted on rfd are terrible because they use broadcom chipsets, btw - they lack long term software support and usually are waste 1 year in.

Alternatively, you could buy 3 x xiaomi ac2100 or mi 4a gigabit routers, flash openwrt on them, set up 802.11s mesh and they can be repurposed however you like in the future and it'd have the same specs for $20-35 more (90-105 vs 70).
