Virgin DSL vs CarryTel Cable Internet

Hello everyone.
I’m looking to switch internet providers. Current provider is Teksavvy 150mbps down 15 mbps up over cable. My promotion pricing is ending, and Teksavvy is coincidentally raising their plan pricing as well. I haven’t noticed a huge difference in 150mbps speed. Part is probably due to my use cases and hardware, and part is probably due to Teksavvy speeds being inconsistent to begin with.

I made the switch to Virgin $40/month for 12 months at 50mbps down and 10mbps upload, only to find out they only do DSL. Speed has been ok so far but I haven’t been using it long enough to test out reliability.

I saw CarryTel has a promo $44.99 for 75mbps down 10mbps upload over cable.

I’ve been using internet over cable (Coaxial) for more than 10 years now. I know cable is superior in regards to speed. However, consistency from the provider is also a factor.

Any thoughts? Virgin 50mbps DSL Plan or CarryTel 75mbps Cable plan? Price difference is $5 more per month for CarryTel.

I’d really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

DSL is speed and stability is depending on the distance from the otpical fiber junction. If you had stable DSL signal with Virgin and your full 50mbit speed, I would stick to DSL.

Yeah the speed I’m getting with Virgin seems to be in line with my plan.
Here’s a comparison between my Teksavvy 150mbps cable plan and my Virgin 50mbps DSL plan. Both are still currently active in my house, so I’m able to compare the two.

Virgin also has a 75mbps DSL plan for $50/month for 12 months compared to CarryTel 75mbps Cable plan for $45/month.

Anyone have experience with CarryTel?

With CarryTel you can get a 7 day free trial or just try it for one month. I have had them for two years now and get 75/10 speed 24 hours a day. Even now with massive internet usage with people at home.

Of course a lot depends on your specific location and neighbourhood cable use. But if you had no problems previously using cable that should continue.
