Free IPhone battery replacement YMMV

Got an iPhone 6 battery replaced for free. After reading the fine print , they cover “manufacturer defects” for out of warranty products if the product isn’t messed up due to user damage
I was fully expecting to pay $35 so it was a pleasant surprise.

Who is "they"? Virgin Mobile/Bell or Apple Store?

Bell store did the service - it is a registered service centre on apples website.

my provider is currently virgin, but it’s a bell iphone.

They put the P.O. through my virgin account and the battery change was covered in the terms in the order.

I don’t have any special plan.
I have a BYOD plan, expired warranty and no friends that work there.

My phone is in great condition though - so I assume the invoice goes to apple as a “recall” or something ... I dunno.

They do it for Apple Store purchased Iphones by any chance? Got a relative on Bell with a Apple Store purchase IPhone 6s and don't mind it getting replaced...
