I had been looking at the "Virgin Mobile FTTH/FTTN - 100/10Mbps - $45/m (Ontario only)" thread. At the time (early June), tried customer service but they said it was not available in Quebec.

Currently, the following appears on the QC site:

If you are in Québec in the Vidéotron territory, you can get double the upload speed (20 Mbps) and 120 Mbps download speed for the same monthly price of $50 per month with Fizz:

Plus, until July 15th, there's a $75 referral bonus available.

Virgin's 100/10 Mbps is only available in select areas due to Bell's copper wires network limitation while Fizz's 120/20 Mbps is available everywhere Vidéotron is available since it's on a coax cable.

Virgin (Bell) will do a credit check on you. Fizz does not since it's all pre-paid.

Don't forget to use the promo code with Virgin or you will only see a $50 pre-paid card.

I'm in QC and after an availibility check it is showing 50/month for a 50/10 speed. Fizz is a much better deal at 50/month for a 120/20 speed. Fizz is backed by Videotron, Virgin is backed by Bell. Your choice !

Also the Virgin Prepaid Visa cards are a pain to use if you can get them to work at all.

I have a $150 one (supposedly) from signing up at the end of 2020. Had to wait a couple of months for it to show up and despite registering it properly its been almost 6 months and I still can't get it to work anywhere.

Their online portal says its all good but every where in person and online declines it. I recently got an email from trucash who seem to run the program saying it was active. Again despite the website saying so a long time ago. And it still doesn't work.

Its a lot of hassle to try to get the benefit out of Virgin/Bell. Definitely go with Fizz if its an option for you.

I too had an issue with the Virgin sign up promo gift card (mine was part of an Ontario offer around boxing day), I received it months later as well (3 months) only to find it declines every where.

The problem was that the gift card company sent out a batch a defective cards that won't work, I found this was the case when I called in to the gift card call center number. They transferred the balance and sent me a new card (took 2-3 weeks?) and had the transferred balance on it and worked.

Hope that will help, $150 is a lot in this context!

I've been with virgin, I had no issues so far ( not copper). No problems with their gifts cards neither, I only used it online though

I have Virgin for the past 2 yrs now and have had zero issues since...I upgraded from 50mbps FTTH to 100mbps (same $50/mth) about 2-3 weeks ago when it was first posted on their site

Did you mean FTTN ? 50 or 100 mbps for FTTH is not a possibility I think. Especially with 10 meg upload. 100Mbps is usualy 2 copper line bundled together.

Are you sure they still do bundling?
Because if they did, 100 Mbps would be available anywhere.
Yet, it's NOT available at many addresses.
I think 100 Mbps is only available where FTTH is available.

FYI on speedtesr I reached around 120Mbps+ on virgin but yeah I guess it depends on the location.

Not every house has stable DSL signal.

Thanks OP. I’m currently with VM but paying $45 for 50MBps speed. I was able to change it to 100MBps $50 plan under « change speed » option in « my account » section. Awesome!

Yes Virgin does FTTH where it's available and yes it is the same as max copper speed 100/10.

Copper 100mbs depends on the infrastructure to the premise. It is available but not everywhere

Same here... consistent test results of 120Mbps+ now.

Used to have DSL with copper lines. Speed test results used to be less than advertised.

They finally upgraded their infrastructure in this neighbourhood. My previous service call involved the technician installing a new fibre-optic connection to the house. Big improvement.

I used the same method. Sometimes dealing with a rep doesn't get the desired results so figured I'd try the "My Account" option instead.
Just waiting to see the first billing - should be ok.

I can't afford to save that much!

I just got the Virgin Internet 100 Mbps installed. The technician brought in the direct fiber optic connection into the house and setup the Valerie modem/router. I done a couple of speed test and the connection speed is 120 Mbps DL and 10 Mbps UL.

Did they let you choose where to put the modem? I have a classic Montreal long and skinny apartment and I would want the fiber line brought to the center of my house like the Videotron is now. I know Bell now has two tiers of install one that will and one that wont.

Yep., I chose the location on the 2nd floor. I wanted them to reuse the old hole which previously had a cable wire coming through it. The first thing the technician asked me was where I wanted to put the modem.

Anyone else having issues hitting 100 download speed?

Had 50/10 and upgraded to 100/10 and am still getting around 60-65. Called Virgin thinking it was something wrongly setup on their end but they said it had to do with my location. (Older neighborhood)

The Bell tech during the install said seeing it’s fiberop, speed should easily hit the advertised speed whereas copper can vary depending on location in the network.
