[Virgin Mobile] YMMV *WARM* upgrade with phone plans + keep bonus data

Last month I changed from a BYOD $40 6gb plan to a Silver 25 talk/text plan for many of my virgin lines as I do not need the extra data anymore. Yesterday I was scanning for father day deals before my next monthly bill is due, on a new phone for my relatives and decided to explore my virgin account. After clicking on upgrade I notice that many phones could be had on a silver plan starting from $25/month like the A20 for $0 upfront.
But when clicking that option every silver plan was from $45 (500 minutes, no data...etc same as their website outside the login portal) Wondering if its a typo I decided to ask online chat to see if there was a hidden plan or if my plan was eligible. Multiple agents say they can see many plans between $25 and $45 eligible to have a phone over two years. But after giving them the ok to login to my account and process the change they no longer see the plans active and can only proceed with the silver 45. They suggest I enter a virgin store or call in.
Dialing 611, I asked and the first rep said he can make the change to keep my current plan but he cannot honor the visa giftcard of $100 as that is a in-store deal, once again suggested I go to the store if I want the GC otherwise I could get the phone ship to me with my current plan on 2years.
Instead of going to Virgin store I went to Bestbuy mobile instead and asked if they were able to do the upgrade for me. After they confirm that all the changes are good to go they said they cannot give me the $100 GC as its only for new activation's and not upgrades. I showed them my chat log with a Virgin rep saying that upgrading a new line so the BB rep not wanting me to walkaway to the Virgin Koisk said he could offer me a $100 bestbuy giftcard but asked if I could get the A50 or A70 instead. I said if he could give me $150 or $200 respectively as that was the promo from BB and virgin, he said he cannot and I did not want a bb-giftcard.
He then offered me $100 cash so I don't have to buy from bestbuy and can use the money however I want. I ended up getting the A70 since I'll be keeping my plan I only have to pay the upfront cost so felt it was worth it.
For those who manage to get on Virgin's migration plans, Silver 25+ or Gold 60 can do the same. If your plan is not eligible call in or visit a store. Giftcard + bonus cards are YMMV and apparently there are other beyond market offers which may sweeten the deal. I think this is a pretty good alternative if you are with or migrating to Virgin and need a phone and don't want to do the Koodo method.

Pixel 3A $119.99 * 1.13 = $135.59 with silver plans
LG G8 ThinQ $469.99 * 1.13 = $531.09
- Want to see if my Silver 25 plan qualifies as a 2 year term upgrade for Virginmobile with a Samsung A20
- Try to do it over online chat, agent says maybe a in-store or over the phone special, but can confirm my plan is eligible
- Agent over the phone confirms that he can indeed setup a 2 year term @ $25 a month + upfront cost of the phone of my choice but no giftcard as those are only in-store promos.
- Bestbuy mobile sales can process the upgrade but cannot give their gift-card because its for new activation not upgrades.
- BBM instead asked if I wanted a A50 or A70 and $100 giftcard with either phone but later changed it to $100 cash when I mention VM was giving me Visa GC.
Overall Cost of A70 on Silver 25 for two years: A70 $269.99 * 1.13 = $305.09 - $100 cash = $205.09
