2070 would've made it a true winner.
We'll have to wait for the next Lenovo price error to be that fortunate.

The AMD CPU is too slow for VR games despite the GPU. Don't buy this if you're planning on doing VR.

Mine sits at 100% CPU usage on more intense beat saber maps with only 50% GPU usage. That AMD CPU is ok for budget laptops but this should have a 6 core i7

Then it'd be $1999.
Brown ahead for Bure. Bure going in.. he scores! Pavel Bure has won it for the Vancouver Canucks! It's a triple overtime hat-trick for Vancouver!

Nah, there have been Lenovos that have had that config for ~$1500. Sure that's not $1299, but IMO worth the extra cost if you're paying this much already

How's the battery life and what size is it?

If it's 48 Whr then it's way too small. What was Asus thinking putting such a small battery on this thing?

Exactly, i ended up buying this...

Went with that over Y740 after doing a lot of research. I PM'd it elsewhere but its the same price at walmart, amazon, newegg, and memory express so its the standard selling price this boxing week (really since black friday). Not exactly a hot deal (reason i didn't post it) but it meets my requirements for a gaming laptop.

I dunno, I mean I run beatsaber flawlessly on my Core i7 with RX 580 laptop I got 2 years ago for $1299. I don't think there should be that much inflation?

Good choice.

Walked by the ASUS booth at the Syntrend building in Taipei a year ago and had to take a double look because the newer ASUS models have toned down the gamer look a bit. If only they changed the keyboard and the top lid, it would be a perfect sleeper gaming notebook.

Regular pricing is around that much, yes. A quick search of "asus i7 rtx 2060" will show you how the market has shifted.

Anything AMD gets discounted heavily, whether it's the CPU or GPU. That's just how it is.

At best its 4 hours even with optimus enabled. Don't expect much.
