Spend $50-$70 and buy a dash cam that is reliable and will actually work.
But a lot of people don't have a dashcam at all, and something is better than nothing. If they can spend $10 as a no-brainer and put the crappy dashcam in their car, then at least they would have some record in event of an accident. And maybe they'll have a better idea what they're looking for when they do get around to buying a decent dashcam.

Memory cards are pretty much unaffected by temperature. It's the continuous writing in a dashcam that wears out the memory card rapidly, as regular TLC memory is only good for about 1000 writes. Some people buy a "high endurance" microSD card, which typically uses MLC memory for about triple the write cycles. Others just buy a bigger microSD card because that also reduces the number of overwrites.
For what it's worth, I've had a non-high endurance 32gb Sandisk in my dashcam for 4 years, drivin daily, and it hasn't had any issues. MicroSD cards just keep on getting cheaper, so I have no qualms about buying a new one if this dies. My only suggestion is to stick with name brands.

Like I said folks, it's a cheap dash cam. Some people can't afford high end cameras.

I couldn't find any "dash cam" info in the forums. So feel free to post any good dash cams that could help people out.

This is what I'm looking at.

Thanks Chrno. I entered Dashcam and Dash Cam into the search engine and this forum didn't show up in the first 10 pages of my search. Thanks for sharing!

Stay dry my friend!

I had this dash cam, and it reliable and works. This was the first gen of affordable dash cam available in GTA and sold for about $40. There is nothing wrong with the videos as it will be clear enough who's at fault.

Dash cam writes 5 minute videos and will automatically erase the oldest one.

Buying a cheap dashcam is like not having one at all. Save some money up and buy a decent one and a high endurance sd card.

I actually walked into visions and bought one... guys it’s actually not bad. Came to 14.70 cents taxes in for me. They had lots left too. If there is enough interested I could bulk order in group buy fashion and ship it to someone in gta who can arrange a pickup. Anyways I would not bash this cam at all. It works in 720p and 1080p... has motion auto start and off... q min 3 min 5 min and 10 min.

You completely wrong.
You need dashcam to record any possible accident with your car (to shoe you didn't do any wrong while driving) not to make "movie on the go".
But if you filming your trip for art purposes - go with the best and most expensive dashcam.
Unless you can use smartphone with good camera for same purpose.

But does it really? One of the problems with cheap crappy dashcams is that they often lie outright about the resolution, with the box saying that it's 1080p when it's actually a cheap 480p sensor. Some of them even go so far as to produce a 1080p output file, but a closer look at the actual picture resolution shows that it's scaled up from 480p.
