[Visions Electronics] Lenovo ThinkCentre M78 SFF A8-6500/4GB RAM/500GB HDD Windows 10 Home Desktop- Reconditioned (M78-4GB500GB) $98

Lenovo ThinkCentre M78 A8-6500/4GB RAM/500GB HDD Windows 10 Home Desktop - Reconditioned (M78-4GB500GB)
Visions still has these from the BF flyer. It is not free shipped, ($17 shipping) but most stores still have stock here, so online for ISPU or in store purchase work if you don't want to pay shipping.
I got one out of curiosity, and it is not bad for the $$. Of course it an older design, but it is clean, has a new keyboard and mouse, 4 RAM slots, loads of USB ports 3.0/2.0, a 500 GB HD.
What is not clear on the product page, it does not have an HDMI Port, it has a VGA port and it appears to have a Display Port, it also comes with a WiFi dongle.
Maybe it could be useful as a spare, kids computer, basic use, or maybe an HTPC with a cheap half size VC with an HDMI, or a DP to HDMI adapter.

Thanks op. Been looking for one for my son. And I had looked at that flyer at least twice before, totally missed the deal.

I can confirm that there are some scratches, needs a wipe down, some missing rubber feet, keyboard it comes with is not the best as the keys are not as responsive but works if you aren't gentle with it. Overall a good starter system that is quiet and fast enough for my kids to learn computers with Windows 10 Home.

Reconditioned/refurbished license for Windows 10 Home sticker is on the top but you need to peel off the old Windows 7 license sticker. The system came from a authorized refurbished company in Ontario.

I am looking to upgrade RAM to 12GB or 16GB? Anyone know where I should buy it?

How would this be for blue iris and up to 8 cameras?

Can you add a second HDD?

For comparison, the processor appears to be somewhere between a 2nd gen Intel I3 and a low end 2nd gen Intel I5 (i5-2400S)

Might be ok if the cameras are 720p 15fps but anything higher and it will struggle. I've run BI with 4 4mp cams on a system with better CPU and it struggles, added a 5th and it just bogged down and constantly crashed with 98% CPU and 99% ram usage.

Mine was really clean looking. Some really minor scratches here and there. Nothing that you could detect from a distance, only seen up close and looking for imperfections.

If it had a PCIExpress slot, I'd throw an extra dual or quad NIC and convert to pfsense box. Similar to a desktop I'm using now for that (but the one I have has that pciexpress slot for the NIC).

I couldn't find the manual, but figure it's similar to the 73 model, which suggests you could squeeze an SSD in it with a free Sata, or as it the details say it has an optical you could remove the 5.25 DVD drive. Heck love to check out one of those 4x2.5" bay holders in a 5.25 slot.

Koodo too: for a phone and locked to 24 months but was a good deal.

Mine is also 4 x 1GB Ram. WiFi dongle was still packaged and in the bottom of the box with mine.

You are lucky because I bought 5 units and none had a wifi dongle. Not a huge deal for me anyway as I have access to a wired network connection.

3.3GB available might happen if it's using a 32-bit Windows installation. The missing portion might also be in use by the GPU.
