[Visions Electronics] Proscan 48" 1080p 60Hz LED HD TV (PLDED4897A) $228

Image

On boxing day, in store at 6:00 AM, and at 7:00 PM on the 24th Online, Visions will have this Proscan 1080P 48" for $228. Probably with free shipping online.
If you need a second TV, or aren't interested in 4K, this might make a good budget option.

An actual deal on Boxing day! I'm curious what the rest of their flyer looks like...

Not 4K but a deal is a deal. This feels like boxing day again ;)

Anyone saw this in store, the 4k version of this that I saw in store looks ugly. The control for power, channel and volume sticks like a sore thumb at the middle bottom of the TV.

Good point. Yes 7:00 PM Eastern 12/24, for online purchases. Given that they are a western based company, it could have been either, I guess.

Try this. At one time Proscan was a premium RCA brand, but now licensed out, like RCA and many other brand names.

Yeah except its 8ms gtg. 176" viewing angle and 4000:1 contrast ratio suggest this is a VA panel and a VA panel having 8ms would be better than pretty much any VA panels out there. Doesn't mean its bad for games just don't let the 8ms mislead you because when the number is listed that low, it always refers to gray to gray not black. 8ms gtg VA panel could (like does) have 40+ ms and sometime even over 100ms... so this tv could be average/good for games or horrible (hard to tell with just specs).

Not really. Good-for-gaming response time is under 5ms, but 8ms is still passable. However more concerning with gaming, when it comes to TVs, is not the pixel response time, it's the input lag which is an order of magnitude greater than response time. Response time just indicates how well it will handle motion blur, input lag is more concerning since it can affect your ability to play the game well. Under 50ms input lag is ideal, over that can still be okay but over 100ms is pretty poor and not recommended for gaming at all.

Since this is obviously a no-name, unknown set, how good or bad the input lag will be is a mystery. Someone would have to test it with a CRT to find out for sure but not sure if there's any takers on RFD willing to do it and post results?

Proscan 49" 4K UHD LED TV (PLDED4935A) is on for $388, but that's not really a deal, better Boxing Day deals out there.
